I don't understand what you mean? It's a symbiotic, not parasitic relationship. The mushroom won't kill the insect because it will continuously provide it with nutrients throughout their lives, and in turn the mushroom protects its hostΒ

During an expedition into Mt. Moon I had found this excellent specimen of the Paras species. This small male, proven to be one by the shorter abdomen, was in excellent condition as shown by the vibrant blue eyes, though weather or not the good health will continue into evolution will be unknown.

I was browsing through your pokemon evo gallery, and had to do a double-take at this. At first, I imagined the waterfall was moving on my screen. If that's not a photo bg...amazing job.
Either way though, your work is amazing enough. Keep it up.

Also, I have the perfect idea for the drawing.. now to actually draw it then cry when it looks like nothing I imagined xD

what's interesting was, once i saw a story in which the mushroom on it was in fact a parasite slowly manipulating it and taking over it's brain.
once it evolves into a parasect, the control get much more involved and it's mental state gets to the level of a schizophrenic. it eventually dies because it cannot support the growing weight of the shroom, and it has also pretty much drained it of all it's resources. the spores release, attach onto any crabs that are nearby, as it tends to populate areas near crabs or paras, and the process repeats.
very dark.
