So I was driving back from Cleveland and sequentials were on the brain. I'm trying to learn and execute as much as I can in these last few weeks until the Chicago Wizard World, as I would like to finally bring a portfolio to have the editors laugh at.Anyhow, an idea came to mind for old Kal-El to "snap". What would make him so angry that he'd kill? Ending planet Earth??? So, Darkseid has got his hands on some kind of device giving him a certain power to do so and suppress Supes as well. Anyway, lemme know what you think and as always, be critical! I hope to one day represent my dA pals in the world of professional comic art!

as a Superman fan...I love this ...just wondering if it's a gravity device...and if you could have maybe some of his costume starting to rip...cape obviously starting to tear...maybe make the rest of the background behind him look like its ripping up ..and he's using pure angry and willpower to stand there...Other wise ...LOVE the lines...everything looks crisp...I like the leg on Darkseid being there ...cause he's very rarely been beaten by Supes...so you gotta have that I think...looks good man...I would read this story...looks like you could do the story of the fight he and Darkseid in the JLU finally...

Top right panel has a little too much negative space methinks. Perhaps some energy zapping effect could go around his hand? Other than that, wicked.

Would you say this page played a vital roll? Or was it all the TMNT stuff?
I love this pic. In itself, I think it's awesome. But I would have a small fear that people think Superman looks too Hulky, because Superman generally looks more glamorous and stuff.

Hey thanks man. yeah the con was an eye opener. it was kind of like a kick in the pants to get some stuff together and get up the balls to show it to people. I met a lot of really cool cats in the process. As far as the TMNT gig, no, I wouldn't say it was directly related. My buddy Derek Fridolfs asked me one day if I could do come tmnt stuf so he could ink it and send to Mirage to look over. As far as I can tell, it went over well with all of those guys. I'm glad you dig the page, but it's old now hahahahah. I wish I could post the TMNT stuff and some other fully 'rendered' stuff I'm working on, but sadly, I can't. Thanks!

Wow, your lines are so clean. I gotta hand it to you!! That has got to be some of the most professional looking lines i've seen! I notice that in the second to last panel Darkseid has his leg up as if perched on a rock. I don't think bending his leg was necessary. You always seems to capture the mood really well in a page and there is no doubt you capture here, it's just i feel that the second to last panel should be the first panel of the page. I'm not sure if this is just one page or more, so i'm kind of looking at it like a one page story. Putting that long panel first builds sort of a tension between the characters. And thanks to the setting, it gives off a western standoff vibe. Also the reason i say switch panels is because Superman is standing tall, ready to fight, but he doesn't look like he snapped yet. The best depiction of said snap occurs in the panel where he punches the ground. There i get it, he's angry, and i think Darkseid made a comment about his mom's apple pie lol!! Also the panel right below it where he seems to stand up, it's great. Then the next panel should be the extreme close-up of Superman. I really think all the shots work, but they have to be arranged differently. Again Great work, and i can safely say that in two weeks i'll finally have something up on deviantart and you can critique me as well.

I disagree with the leg thing. I feel Darkseid is merely bracing himself, as he's opening up a can of cosmic-whoopass.
The rest of the written I kept getting lost, i'm having trouble focusing... bah.

Maybe he could be bracing himself, but it sticks out because it's the only time you see his leg rise up like that on the entire page. It's just the whole time time darkseid looks perfectly calm and in control and it doesn't feel like he needs to brace himself for anything. It feels out of place.

Notice, though, that in the previous panel he's only got one hand amassing energy. In the panel with the knee up a bit, he's got two hands on the orb-o-whoopass.
Because superman is freaking out, maybe Darkseid is amping it up as well. I can understand where you're coming from, but in this context it makes sense.

I can see what you're talking about now. I could see his leg moving due to the weight of that orb-o-whoopass. I guess my problem is more with that rock being so prominent in the foreground that it blocks his legs. Maybe if the angle was changed I might read it better. Or if that rock was smaller, because that leg rising up does cause some confusion.
