This started out as an experiment I wasn't really expecting much out of, but I ended up liking it enough to post it here.I used a vintage photograph as reference for the pose, and as it's mainly an experiment with technique there isn't much more behind this image. However, I find she closely resembles an idea I had in mind for a painting I want to do of the Slavic goddess of spring, Vesna (using my good friend Vesna as model, of course
). My paternal grandfather is Serbian and I've taken part in his customs and traditions growing up. It's a part of my heritage I'm interested in exploring further through my art.
Watercolour and various inks (white, mostly... still in love with that) on watercolour paper. 19x15 inches.

i will just tell you that you will have a lot material to work with,regarding inspiration, with you Serbian heritage- Slavic people in general,but Serbia separated has a lot of history and interesting story's. Good luck my fellow Serbian

It's amazing how much warmth this work has even though it's mostly painted with rather cold tones. I'm especially liking the skin tones and the effects you did with white paint, it makes me want to experiment with white paint too! Your painting technique produces such beautiful works, I'm utterly inspired to paint something right now.
