Description Hailing from imperial times, the Nordic Pact Grossfuerst was the oldest tank to participate in the war. Big and clumsy, it was difficult to deploy tactically. The 37mm turret and 75mm hull-mounted guns provided good firepower, as did the three machineguns, but it soon became clear that the tank was inadequate, even with its good armor of 80mms.

Some useful variants were spwaned, converted from original tanks. An 88mm tank hunter, a 150mm self-propelled howizer and a ammo-carrier were the most successful.

Ironically, the tank was still in use in its original version with home-guard units and was very successful against insurgents and partisan units.

It is based on the "Grosstraktor" (Grand-Tractor), a prototype tank the Wehrmacht tested in russia (since Germany was not allowed to possess tanks after WWI). The chassis and running gear were okay, but the armor and weaponry was crap, so the project was abandoned and the lessons learned were incorporated into more modern tanks.
