A mermaid in antique-silver-plated brass, with seaspray and treasures of the deep around her.

I actually made this about a year ago, testing out new ideas for jewellery pieces. The mermaid's tail is enamelled using oooh, about 9-10 different shades of enamel, finishing with ones with tiny shimmering particles of glitter in them to achieve that 'just left the water' look. Parts of the Victorian plaque at the back looked like sprays of water, so I picked those out in little blue Swarovski crystals, and then went hunting through my boxes of Pretty Bits (TM) to find suitable treasures for her.
The chain is studded with little focal beads including crystal, opaline (opal glass also called 'sea opal') and cultured pearls.

I was pretty pleased with this and intend to make more plaque/charater-themed brooches or necklaces as a result!
