Description
The Battle of Endor proved to be a decisive victory for the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Both Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine were dead, the Second Death Star was destroyed, and the Imperial Forces, while still powerful, quickly devolved into enfighting. However, the Rebels too began squabbling amongst each other over the future of the Galaxy, a debate which was promptly ended by General Luke Skywalker. Having become a living legend for his role in the destruction of the first Death Star as well as being directly involved in the death of the Emperor, the young rebel leader vanished for a short period of time after Endor only to re-emerge with a small fleet of Imperial defectors hailing him as the new Emperor. He had saved their lives in the Aftermath of Endor and in exchange they had pledged themselves to him as their new leader. While Luke himself expressed no desire to rule the Galaxy, he also made the case that only he alone could restore peace and provide a new guiding light for all lifeforms in the new Skywalker Galactic Empire. Supported by Princess Leia Organa and the remnants of the old Jedi Order, Luke managed to garner enough support to be named Supreme Commander of the Alliance as well as proclaim himself the founder of a new Imperial Dynasty, one of whom’s right to rule came from the Force. While at first Luke found little support amongst Imperial Remnants, his fortunes changed quickly with the pledge of support from former Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn. Thrawn would aid Skywalker in subduing most of the remnants. Complications would arise in the form of Palpatine’s Clone and the short-lived Dark Empire, though Thrawn would defeat the enemy fleet in battle while Luke would personally slay the false Emperor in single combat. The final crisis of Skywalker’s early reign came with the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, a hostile alien species that had traveled across vast empty space fleeing from their doomed Galaxy seeking to conquer a new one. The climax of the conflict came with the Battle of Coruscant in 27 ABY; here now Sky Commander Thrawn lured the Yuuzhan Vong onto the planet’s surface with a weak defense before collapsing much of the surface layers of the planet-wide metropolis. This was followed by a full scale counterattack lasting almost a year and countless dead, in the end the Imperial Forces were victorious, at the cost of massive damage to the once great capital world of the Galaxy. In the aftermath of the Yuuzhan Vong War, two new Imperial capitals would be established. One based on Corellia, which would serve as the main governing capital of the Empire, and one based on the sparsely populated desert planet of Tatoonie, which would serve as the Emperor’s personal Throne World.

Skywalker’s Empire would function nothing like its predecessor. The Emperor would be a more ceremonial figure with Luke focusing more on his duties as Grand Master of the New Jedi Order while leaving the actual day to day running of the Empire in the hands of the Senate led by an elected Chancellor much like in the Old Republic though with the Emperor ultimately serving as the final check of their power. Through Thrawn, an alliance was quickly forged between the new Empire and Chiss Ascendancy with strong diplomatic and military ties to one another including reaching favorable economic and freedom of movement agreements benefiting the citizens of both states. Even with the final defeat of Palpatine’s Empire, what remained of Imperial Hardliners used the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong to take what forces they had left and carve out a new dominion within the unknown regions, here former Imperial Admiral Natasi Daala would seize full control over the Remnant and be named Grand Moff of the New Order. Managing to negotiate terms with Skywalker, the two formed an uneasy partnership for the sake of peace though one in which Daala would use to undergo a mass rearmament. Over the coming decades, the New Order would grow into a highly militarized police state, one in which rights were gained through service and a new generation was brought up to believe in the cause of taking back the Galaxy for it’s rightful rulers. Within the Empire itself, a new threat has risen from within, an organization calling themselves the Knights of Vader. Terrorists who follow the teachings of the old Sith and wish to topple the perceived weak and effeminate Skywalker Empire with a government based off the ancient Sith Empires of old. After ruling the Empire for nearly a century, the elder Luke Skywalker finally allowed himself to become one with the Force in 103 ABY. While he left the Empire and New Jedi in a favorable position, his legacy is threatened by new enemies foreign and domestic as only time will tell if the great Emperor’s heirs are up to the task of preserving it.
