Description Update2:
Restyled firefox.

Update:
Changed the font to Aller, rearrenged and changed the windows/programs, changed the colors in Terminator to more pastel-ish and installed another extension named Frippery Move Clock. Also changed Chromium for a customized Firefox. More info below.

What:
An updated version of my laptop running Arch Linux with Gnome 3 Shell. Somewhat spacesaving, kind to the eyes and a work environment that helps me "get shit done".

Please download for full quality.

Why:
Wanted to try Gnome 3 when it came out, kind of didn't like it in the beginning but after I learned to work with the setup it's actually rather nice.

Been lazy in configuring it for a long time now, but tested some extensions etc. and it was really giving a way better experience than the default. There are also a lot of great themes for both shell and gtk3 out there compared to when it was released, so that combined with extensions makes it easier to be a Gnome 3-user.

How:
Gnome 3 shell: nale12.deviantart.com/art/OMG-… (I've removed the background-gradient on the panel, replaced with background-color #111)
GTK3: satya164.deviantart.com/art/el… (switched from the original light one)
Icons: tiheum.deviantart.com/art/Faen…
Font: Aller and Monospace
Wallpaper: hellishere-12.deviantart.com/a…
Extensions: From extensions.gnome.org/ Alternative Status Menu, Remove Accesibility, Extend left box, Nothing To Do, Remove Activities, Empathy Menu, Notifications Alert, AlternateTab, User Themes, Status Title Bar, Status only icon, Window Navigator, Remove Bluetooth and Frippery Move Clock.
Firefox:: Vimperator with custom darkness2 pastebin.com/cbA6FdLc and my stylish-theme pastebin.com/mAnsbL4G Hidden menu bar, location bar etc..
Vim: zenburn, vimrc: github.com/timss/vimconf
Terminal Colors: github.com/timss/dotfiles/blob…

To run terminator without border do terminator -b.
Removed Firefox' window decoration with gDevilspie code.google.com/p/gdevilspie/ .
The system monitor shown in picture 1 is saidar (included in the package libstatgrab).

Not included in this screenshot is that I've customized my Skype to use Skypetabs and to run it with the GTK-theme chosen. For more information see the Arch Wiki's article on the subject: wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/S…

Thanks!

That's what I use for my personal avatar on forums and such, though not on dA out of respect for the one who made it. Already asked him and he was OK with me using it elsewhere

It's a little bit modified though. Here's the original: [link]

is that text editor gedit?

It's Vim, a text-based editor run in a terminal. Difficult to master but nice for scripting and editing config files. For heavy programming I prefer Netbeans.
