Albatrosses are not to be messed with i guess. It reminds me of the "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" i had to read in school once.
It's really beautifully painted. Especially love the blueish tones on the skin.

oops... that is...too bad for ya.
Maybe the albastross mistakenly stumbled onto you ... You know, those big birds are not good at landing...
(Still that idea does not mitigate the scene at all...)

I adore this painting. It means a lot to me, even though I am probably wrong about the artist's purpose.
I am a bird lover, and I have a lot of respect for the wandering albatross. They spend 90% of their lives in flight. They even fly while sleeping. They only land to breed. They have the longest wingspan--11+ feet. They form strong, life-long pair bonds with their mates and live up to 60 years.
It might sound crazy, but I think humans are ruining everything in the world. Maybe the soda can and the sheet of torn metal represent that. The faces on the metal remind me of cave paintings. Maybe those things will be our only remaining legacy after we are gone. Our trash.
We always talk about "saving the planet" and saving this and that endangered species...Personally, I think the only way to save the world and allow every creature in it to live a natural existence, including evolution and natural extinction, is to become extinct ourselves. The only way to stop interfering is to stop existing.
That was my first impression upon viewing this amazing work of art. The albatross has a victorious, almost sexual, ecstatic pose over the dead human. I love how the artist depicted himself instead of a stranger, as if to say, "I am responsible, I will take the blame for all of humanity."
We are the most disgusting creature on the planet. Not the albatross.
I'm going to feel pretty stupid when someone comments on my comment. But this painting just got me all fired up! I love it!

Is it conquest or is the gesture of the albatross a more comforting "There, there" sort?
I think I like not knowing.

This is a wonderful portrait of sick art...and we are all drawn to it somehow!!! It's not exactly the one you'd want to give Mom for Mother's Day though...
(What do you do with all your paintings--are they hung all over your place or do they go straight to the gallery????)

Wow I just can't believe it. I recognize you. It seems like this bird is... making a nest from you? Your ideas are really impressive. The idea of "sketching" on a cola's "sheet" is brillant! Tell me, from where, in your story, does the albatross come from?
