Description

Had a blast of fun coming up with more of an organic design for this guy, since he's one of my top favorite aliens from UAF era. So without further ado, let's get it started, shall we?

For today's official redesign of mine, here's Ben's Talpaedan form: Armodrillo.

Like last time, I'll split this comment in 3 main sections:

1st off, their BIOLOGY:

Native to the desert planet Poiana Lüncas of our neighbor galaxy (Andromeda galaxy), Talpaedans are a large, bipedal species with some physical resemblance to earths rodents such as armadillos (inspiration for Ben's name) and even moles, tho the other native species of this planet named Kr-tinars fit mole's description much better (yet to be revealed). They were designed for climbing rocks and walking on sand without sinking in like most would. Talpaedans also have their skin much similar to us humans, but to protect themselves from their natural predators, millions of years of evolution have granted them a soft, yet durable armor plating throughout most of their bodies. These plates not only protect them from predators, but also add to their main ability and their way of travel: Digging.

Just like their fellow Kr-tinars, Talpaedans are excellent at digging and moving underground. Tho not as fast and smoothly as their co inhabitants, they still can travel quite proficiently while still possessing abilities that differentiate them from Kr-tinars even more. The ability of creating strong tectonic pulses with their own hands. They do that with their big arms that due to their inner skepeton and muscle anatomy work as 2 huge organic jackhammers.

Their whole arm anatomy is quite different from ours, and tho I'll explain it, there's also a sketch I made with all rotation points and muscles marked.

Their anatomy of rock hard bones starts drastically shifting from common humanoids as soon as we go further down their elbow. That is where the skeleton splits in 3 parts: the OUTER SHELL CRUST (the armor that covers the whole arm and the place where the elbow is partially locked at), the CONSTRUCT CRANE (which is the basic support for the drill) and the DRILLBONE (the drill itself).

The outer shell crust is a hard layer of bone under the actual skin and armor that is hollow inside so that the arm can actually function properly. The construct crane is held together with muscles and is right in between the drillbone for the extra support. And then at the bottom is the 360° articulative wrist joint, where the finger claws are at.

Now for this bones to even be put to use, Talpaedans have a special one of a kind ScrewingMotionMuscle fibers (or SMM fibers for short) that travel from theit triceps all the way down to their forearms where they wrap around the spine like teeth on their Drillbones. These muscles are very stretchy and elastic so when a Talpaedan would flex their muscle (same way we'd bend our pinky finger) the whole thing would stetch. But due to it being wrapped around the drillbone in a screw like manner, the whole thing starts spinning and pushes the arm back up the arm shell as deep as 3 feet). But when they relax the muscle, the muscle will automatically eject the whole inner part back out due to the muscle's memory position. This ejection is powerful enough to bring a building down in one pump, and can be used to even create earthquakes. But due to a lot of friction, the muscles get really hot, that's why Talpaedans have holes in their forearms so that the muscles can cool off without them having a spasm or any other arm injury, since no matter their strength, the SMM fybers can rip apart too.

The fingers at their hands are even bonus to the whole thing, since they are shaped to function as a literal claw for breaking stone like nothing.

2. Their SOCIETY:

Tho Poiana Lüncas is a planet that's 82% desert, 14% mountains and 4% water, full of dangerous predators and almost no chance of survival in land, life still finds the way. Due to all of the constructs eventually sinking in the sand of the surface level, the both native species decided to join and create a society underground. With both species being blessed with their own set of skills of survival and digging, they created an entirely new world in the caves deep down in the depths of their planet, with functional water sistems leading all the way from their lakes, air ventilations, and the actual underground city of Scalandia.

There they live peacefully with a multicultural society with technology reaching up to level 5 on the universal scale, which is twice as advanced as earth's. Some even upgrade their national ware and clothing with extra "techno updates" that go as far as surgeries at their arm hammers for an even stronger blows. But more shall be revealed in the series itself.

And the last point: the DESIGN itself:

As previously mentioned, the number 1 priority of mine was to make this design as organic as possible compared to the original. Don't get me wrongx I LOVE transformers, which are technoorganic based lifeforms, but I truly want to stay as organic and grounded designs with these as possible.

Main inspiration though is well, the animal he got the name from: armadillo... and also moles, but that design factor is gonna be more prominent on his biological neighbor. I also based him off of one of my favorite human mutant hybrids from 2003's TMNT underground arc called RAZORFIST, who rly gave me some insparation in terms of claws and how the creature would work.

Other than that this should be it for this one, hope u enjoyed the read and feel free to ask me about somethin u're interested or somethin that u didn't quite get from this text or just somethin in general. But either way, have a good one and as always, keep on rockin! 💫✌
