In 1864, Paraguay goes to war against Brazil because of its interventions against the Uruguayan government. Paraguay asks Argentina military access to attack Brazil from the South. Argentina gives military access to Paraguay and the guarani army invades Brazil from Misiones and Corrientes. Brazil surrenders in 1868 and gives the Southern Regions to Paraguay and Uruguay.
Between 1868 and 1883, Paraguay acquired its claimed territory in Bolivia and Argentina.
