If I were a book publisher, I would ask that this be an illustration for the Sherlock Holmes classic, Hound of the Baskervilles".

That's what I thought it looked like, when it was done.

Night time landscapes are always so brave/daunting because of how much more you have to adapt something from real life onto canvas, and you really rose to the occasion. Great painting!!

I go with dark green for the night sky. Completely unrealistic, but seems, for me, to create the mood, the moon-lit scene I'm usually going for -- not that I dare do them very often. Thanks!

Don't you DARE paint over this Chuck! Sometimes a body needs a change and this is much different than your usual fare, LOL! You can place this on a Vampire novel or Werewolf story! And yes A. Conan Doyle's Hound of the Baskevilles story is my all-time fave Sherlock Holmes story! The run-and -gun pursuit of the hound before it caught up to Sir Henry made the cost of the hardback worthwhile!!

Looks like I'm spending the day answering comments. I'll keep it, just for you, Mac. I have it up now on the wall, and it looks moody enough. And well, hardboard was cheap the last time I bought it, so I can afford a new board for the next one. I was thinking this would be a night snow scene, but that looked too wimpy. The moors at midnight it was meant to be.

Snow at night can be magical. I usually only enjoy it however, when I have to shovel it early in the morning, or late at night. Still, when I'm done, and warm from the work, I'll linger outside for a while just to enjoy it.

It looks moody enough in a frame. I've two from my watercolor days, mat & glass, that I can swap these paintings in in under a minute. The backing holds them in place, so most of my work get's it day over the fireplace or sofa.

One of the reasons I don't sell my work anymore is because I don't want to miss them. There is one little piece I still really miss years later. The other reason is that people seemed to like the pieces that I didn't think were my best, so why have less then the best out and about?
