Description For !
Choice: NONBENDER (Equalist please!)

----

Name: Jing (荆)

Age: 26

Nationality: Republic City

Affinity: Earth

Skills:
-Mechanic: He inherited the family autobody shop after a bending accident killed his father. Though young, he had learned the trade early enough to continue the business, and forfeited school in order to save it from loan sharks. After joining the equalists, he helped create and fix some of the electronic gadgets they were equipped with.

-Cook: As an only child whose mother died giving birth to, Jing grew up learning how to cook from working at a neighboring restaurant. Even now, on the weekends when the autobody shop is closed, he sometimes helps out at the same restaurant.

-Chi-blocker: Jing's father knew a little of how to manipulate chi in medicinal practices, and taught Jing how to block chi at an early age. After joining the Equalists, he started to participate in their chi-blocking classes as well, to advance his technique. Though not one to start a fight, Jing is not afraid to pull any moves or tricks that would allow him to quickly end the fight.

Personality:
-Serious: Having to take responsibility for a family shop at a young age has made him a bit too serious a person. He also doesn't actively look for friends, and instead contents himself with having his tools as his friends. As such, each of his tools has a name, and Jing often talks to them to pass the time. Heavily influenced by his father's philosophy, Jing believes whole-heartedly that "You build your life on blood, sweat and tears." Thus, Jing prioritizes diligence and hard work over talent, and believes that one can achieve one's goal through hard work.

-Business-driven: Though Jing doesn't hate benders, he doesn't like them either. He still holds a grudge towards the benders who murdered his father, but he also has benders at the restaurant he works at who have helped him in the past. Bender or nonbender, as long as they require his services and he makes money for his family autobody shop, Jing would not hold a bias. Strictly speaking on the business side, joining the Equalists was more profitable. And Jing would do anything to keep his father's company alive, even if it means putting up with the the bullying from loan sharks and Yeonghwa.

RP sample:

Jing watched as the last customer of the day drove off in their newly patched Satomobile, and winced as the young driver immediately floored it. That kid will be coming back in a couple of days with a dozen more scratches and a few misfired cylinders. But hey, Jing wouldn't complain - rich kids mean more business. And more business meant his dad's autobody shop wouldn't have to shut down from debt.

Jing closed the shop doors, swept and mopped the floor, and carefully put away his tools, going through the same motions that he'd done every day for 12 years already. Only when the shop was clean did Jing turn the shop lights off and head upstairs to his little workshop, where he was greeted with a mess of scraps, parts, and gadgets. Pulling his work gloves back on, he addressed them warmly,

"Well, Lin-Rin, what should we build today?

Additional notes:
-The ring on the necklace around his neck is his mother's wedding ring, and the only reminder he has left of her.
-Those glasses were a birthday present from his father a few days before he died. He wears them whenever he's outside and away from the shop.
-Jing's autobody shop is called "Yu Family Autobody Services"
-Fei Yen also works at his shop.

Yay fellow mechanics!

Hahaha! Careful not to get Jing's car grease on your hands! Though I guess as a fellow mechanic, you wouldn't mind, would you, haha

Nah Li would be fine with getting her hands dirty. She'd probably talk parts with him. Or inspect his wrench which sounds way dirtier than it should.

lushan In reply to Figgeryboo [2012-08-18 20:52:20 +0000 UTC]

Hahahaha! It's ok, Jing talks to his tools, which I imagine can probably get pretty creepy/dirty at times...xD;;

Jing Oh, you want to see my wrench? /Pulls out wrench/ Her name's Meimei.

Lol. xD

Oh god I don't know if that's the teensiest bit creepy or just downright adorable.

Li Mei Meimei, huh? You keep her in pretty good shape. Looks like she's a good weight too. You can tell a lot about a mechanic by how they keep their tools.

I'm leaning towards adorable.

lushan In reply to Figgeryboo [2012-08-18 21:26:37 +0000 UTC]

Jing Thanks, that means a lot. She was the first tool my dad gave me - been with me a long time. By the sound of it, you are also a mechanic? Where's your shop?

Haha - describing an older man as adorable? xD

Figgeryboo In reply to lushan [2012-08-18 21:49:17 +0000 UTC]

He's only older by four years. xD and the actions are adorable the man is handsome however.

Li Mei Yeah, I am. I don't have a shop really. I do work at Cabbage Corp, assembly and repair line part-time. I do quick fixes though for anyone who needs it I happen across. I'd show you my tools, but I left them in my locker.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lushan In reply to Figgeryboo [2012-08-19 06:20:52 +0000 UTC]

Aww, haha! xD

Jing So you work for Cabbage Corp. I've seen a lot of Cabbage Cars come by my shop - they're a good make, cheap. They're the cost efficient favorite of mothers and teens around my neighborhood. If you ever get the time, do you mind leading me on a tour of your workplace?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Figgeryboo In reply to lushan [2012-08-23 01:18:54 +0000 UTC]

Li Mei I don't mind at all. It's a bit crowded though, just so you know. Would you mind giving me a tour of yours?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lushan In reply to Figgeryboo [2012-08-23 16:50:32 +0000 UTC]

Jing Sure. Mine's a bit cramped - the shop can't accommodate too many vehicles at once. I would introduce to you all my tool friends, but that might take a while.

*noted you* o3o

TVT ...daww he's a man with a heart of gold! QAQ do you mind if I start an RP? ;v; I think Moki would probably have to visit often FFFF

..oh! Whoops! XD sorry, I have a tendency to strike everything out (which makes the striking...meaningless. Lol OTL)

but they do make the best conversations...

lushan In reply to firstfarewell [2012-08-19 06:25:22 +0000 UTC]

No I don't mind! Do you want to start with Moki visiting Jing's shop?

firstfarewell In reply to lushan [2012-08-19 09:37:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah! that'd work pretty well!

well then, I shall continue *shot* haha jkjk XD

Moki: *walks along the street while pushing a rather battered looking motorbike - thinking as he tries to figure out how bad it really is* My boss did say it would be okay if I 'borrowed' one of her bikes for today, but...I doubt I can return it like this. These bikes aren't as sturdy as the ones that the equalists use...but even then...I didn't think I'd end up running this one into a wall in the first place. *eventually he spots an autobody store - pushing the bike in*

...*looks around for the owner, but can't spot him - all he sees are parts of machines* ...Hello? Anyone here that can...er...bring a sad looking bike back to life?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lushan In reply to firstfarewell [2012-08-19 13:46:28 +0000 UTC]

Jing: //He appeared behind the newcomer, wiping his hands on a grease-stained cloth.// Welcome. If you could just park your bike at the far end spot over there, I'll look at it right away.

//Jing had heard the clanking of a battered bike being rolled towards his shop before the young man had actually arrived.// So I was right - another young driver...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

firstfarewell In reply to lushan [2012-08-19 22:26:44 +0000 UTC]

Moki: Ah-...*turns back* Park it? Alright. *drags it along and leaves it in the spot where Jing mentioned* I er...don't know if it's even...salvagable, but...I still need to return it by the end of the week.

*rubs the back of his neck* What do you think? Is that possible or am I still in denial...and the thing's just a chunk of metal now?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lushan In reply to firstfarewell [2012-08-19 22:56:35 +0000 UTC]

Jing: //He gave the bike a quick once-over with his eye before answering.// That depends on what problems I find - I can tell you in a minute, if you want to wait awhile. What happened to it?

//Grabbing his compression gauge, a selection of drivers and sockets, and few other tools, Jing immediately set out on inspecting the young man's bike.//

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

firstfarewell In reply to lushan [2012-08-20 01:03:28 +0000 UTC]

Moki: …What happened to it? Er…I ran it…into a wall. *pauses* …not on…purpose of course.

*tries to remember what happened* I spaced out while driving down main street, ran a red light and managed to turn before it crashed into a truck. But then it ran into a wall at the end of an alleyway instead.

*frowns* Ah, wait…I think I left some…pieces behind. I didn’t really check to pick up things that might’ve fallen off.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lushan In reply to firstfarewell [2012-08-20 01:26:18 +0000 UTC]

Jing: //He paused from his work and looked up.// A wall? I'm glad you're not injured. Don't worry about recovering the extra pieces. It seems most of the impact was absorbed by the frame, but that can be fixed. Your engine on the other hand doesn't look too good. The crash seemed to have cracked your engine valves - you'll need to order a new engine.

//Setting this tools down, he stood up and walked over to the young man.// If it's a matter of time, I can get you a new engine, straighten your frame, and fix any other odd ends of the bike in 2 days. I happen to have a spare engine I modified that's a similar model which should work. Conveniently.

//Jing turned away from the young man and said in a quieter tone,// But to crash such a nice motorbike, to not go to the police or hospital, and to instead worry about having to fix this bike... This bike isn't yours, it it?

Jing's so serious, I'm sorryyyy, haha ;u;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

firstfarewell In reply to lushan [2012-08-20 02:12:54 +0000 UTC]

Moki: To be honest, it’s…not the first time I’ve crashed something into something else. *blinks as Jing talks, he’s not exactly the type of guy who knows anything about machinery* *manages to understand the part about needing a new engine*

I have to return it by the end of the week. But two days would be ideal, I’m not a very good liar… so…It’s going to be interesting trying to avoid talking to my boss for two days to avoid mentioning the bike. *sounds slightly relieved: what a nice coincidence*

*watches as the mechanic turns away* I’d rather not go to the hospital…I have a few scratches but…nothing that won’t heal over time. *frowns at the mention of the police and speaks with a somewhat bitter tone* I think they’re too busy trying to ensure that nonbenders stay indoors after the curfew to be able to deal with something as small as this. *looks to the side, temporarily distracted by his thoughts before answering* Yes, this isn’t my bike. It belongs to my boss.

why are you sorry?! XDD Just let Jing be who he is! Haha ovo/ Otherwise I’d have to be sorry that Moki is an idiot when it comes to machines ||OTL

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lushan In reply to firstfarewell [2012-08-20 02:40:31 +0000 UTC]

Jing: You are welcome to hide out here to avoid your boss if need be. //Jing smiled as he rummaged around his desk, still facing away from the young man.//

Ok then, you can come pick it up 2 days from now, and I'll write you an invoice then. The amount might be a bit pricey - since it's a rush job and you're needing a straightened frame and new engine - so if it's too much for you to handle all at once, feel free to pay in increments. You're a new customer, after all, and I hope you'll come back for more of my services.

//Jing turned back around, holding up a box of bandages.// These are on the house - feel free to use as many as you need, Mr...? //He paused, waiting for the young man to reply his name.//

Haha, 'why so seriouuuus'~ xD It's ok - Moki's still cool. Does he still have his face mask on? Or does it only go on when he's riding his motorbike?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

firstfarewell In reply to lushan [2012-08-20 03:27:40 +0000 UTC]

Moki: …Ah…not sure if you should offer that. I might end up hiding here for the rest of my life is things don’t go well. *this is supposed to be a joke, but the young man’s tone is just equally as serious as before*

I thought it’d be kind of steep, so that’s…fine. *pauses* I should have saved enough. It just means I won’t be able to travel for the next year or so. *nods* judging by how things have gone so far… I think I’ll be back every few weeks. Hopefully there wont be a stage where I have to cut back on buying food to pay for this…

*surprised at Jing’s generosity* *silently takes the box of bandages before answering* It’s…Moki. *he sits down and starts to wrap some around a few scrapes on his arm*

Moki's just a weirdo, but...that's ok, I think I've accepted that. haha

ah, he wears it most of the time …to avoid swallowing bugs. OTL :”DD but he pulls it down when he feels like people can’t hear him/ his speech is too muffled XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lushan In reply to firstfarewell [2012-08-20 04:06:15 +0000 UTC]

Jing: *Taking it seriously* Well, if you've no place to go, Moki, I won't turn you away.

//Jing walked back over to the motorbike and started to carefully take it apart.// My shop's been a small, family own business for a long time now, and I've had many faithful customers, even if unintentionally. Good customers mean good business, and I'd be a fool for charging a good customer so much as to take away their food money. Let me know when you're in a bind, we'll figure out something then. If it comes down to it, you are welcome to eat dinner with me.

Hehe, awww, Moki. It's ok, Jing doesn't judge. xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

firstfarewell In reply to lushan [2012-08-20 11:41:59 +0000 UTC]

Moki: ...*pauses* Ah...he's...serious? *anddd yep, he's not used to this at all* I'll...keep that in mind. I'll try not to take up too much space if it ever comes down to that. *still somewhat in disbelief*

*watches for a moment before continuing to patch himself up, binding a bandage tightly around palm now* You're not the typical business-minded mechanic, are you? Well...not the cut-throat kind. That's quite different. *he thinks about the higher-ended shops in one of the richer districts* Will do. If it ever comes down to it, I'll let you know and pay you back when I can er-...*realises he doesn't know the man's name - he had forgotten to ask* ...sorry, I didn't quite catch your name.

dawww Jing's just such a nice guy ;A; <3 I cant get over how nice he is Q_Q
