I'm a sculptor as well but I've never had the pleasure to work with metal, could you discribe to me how you go about sculpting it?

For Bronze casting one usually works in another material first.
This piece was sculpted in Oil base clay. I took it to a bronze foundry
where they make mold of the sculpture and cast a wax copy.
The wax copy is molded with a ceramic shell waste mold.
That ceramic mold is put in a kiln and fired. The wax is burned out leaving
a hollow ceramic mold. Then molted bronze is cast into the mold. After it cools
the ceramic shell is broken and sand blasted away leaving the bronze casting.
It's then cleaned up and the final patina ( finish ) is applied.

Absolutely amazing, do you just do sculpting or do you mold as well? I was wondering if you had any tips for me, I just started and I..well...to be honest I suck, and I would love for some more advice on molding. (I usually use supersculpey as it is all my budjet can afford)

Do you know who all of your recent deviations remind me of, especially this piece....that supreme master sculptor Rodin!

I don't know if you've ever heard of the Turner Prize (which I hate with a passion) well, it's your sort of genuine, hands on, beautiful, exquisite and supreme artwork that proves to me that 'art' is NOT the cold, conceptual bulls**t that we are told is 'art' by people who have all the money and power, it's the true, sculptors and painters and makers of this world!

What I'm trying to say is "thank the Lord for your artwork saving us from all that conceptual tat!" I am genuinely moved by the excellence I see before me and I wish I could shake you by the hand!

Bloomin' well done sir! Keep going!

Well... Now I can't ask for a higher compliment than this. You're too kind in deed. Thanks very much.
I know exactly what you mean about some of the "Conceptual Art" that passes as art.
I'm not saying that all art has to be representational but so much of the "Modern, conceptual art" that gets so much attentions is crap in my opinion. I just don't get it i guess.

I can't think of a better copliment then what was previously posted. Honestly it reminded me of the famous Marylin Monroe nude with the red backdrop when I first saw it! Amazing piece! What is the scale of this?
