No matter how bad things get, there is always something in front of us to look forward to. Ever Onward.

This image was created at the end of a very very long day of driving and exploring Iceland's south coast. We had left Reykjavik earlier in the day, and started on the ring road headed east. We spent the day stopping at some beautiful, if now rather well known, sights. Our destination was Hofn, a small town in southeast Iceland that was going to be our jumping off point for the second day of our trip around the ring road. We eventually made it to the glacier lagoon in the late evening (around 8:30pm) and spent some time there before heading off. Luckily due to the very long days and a sunset of around 10 oclock, the sun just lingered in the sky. Golden hour was really much more like Golden Hours.

For the last few hours of our journey that day, there had been this mist that was just hugging the ground. At times thick enough that we couldnt see through it, but eventually it thinned a bit. When the sun got low enough the haze just lit up creating this wonderful atmosphere. As the sun was finally setting, we chose a random spot to pull off the road and I started searching for something to give me a composition. I came across these small little grass mounds in front of a creek and set up shop.

This was a very difficult image to process. It was definitely one of those situations where the camera fails to truly capture the beauty of a scene. I wont get into too many details, but this is a multi shot composite, for focus, dynamic range, and more. I went through 6 full edits of this shot, doing many small tweaks trying to nail this one down. My goal is never to simply recreate what I saw, but to create an image that conveys both the scene and the way it made me feel. I strive to keep things believable, but enhanced. I hope I have achieved those goals with this shot and I hope you enjoy!
