(First post of the new year! Happy 2012 everybody!) c:I won't give too many details about this guy just yet, but... here's Utgard-Loki! <: I'm going to be doing something kinda funky with the connection between him and the Loki we're most familiar with; it's gonna get kind of weird, but I'm really excited about the way it ties up a lot of the oddities that never really get an explicit explanation in the myths, so I'm just gonna go ahead and roll with it~ :'D
Utgard-Loki's appearance is nearly identical to Loki's, with a couple of exceptions: both irises of his eyes are green, as opposed to Loki's one red/one green, and he doesn't have the pointy teeth that Loki has. c:
aaaand the silhouetted shadow in the background is Utgard-Loki's most commonly-used disguise~ I'll have a better picture of him in that form one of these days~

Thrymskvida will always be my top favorite~ :'D It was one of the first Norse myths I ever read, and it's what finally convinced me to start studying the mythology further~ The character interactions and humor in that myth completely won me over~ ;v;

I always thought it was an interesting connection too!
Especially because Loki is so uncharacteristically restrained in the myth where we meet Udgårds-Loki… It might be because it hard to be two places at once 
And as the other challenges Thor and his followers meet are aspects too, I have been working on making both Loki, UdgardsLoki, Hu (Lokis mind), Lue (Lokis flame) and Elde (Lokis ageing) the same. Og at least resembling each other.

...Also, do I remember wrong or is Loki supposed to be a glutton? At least based on the whole Utgard-Loki myth and the eating competition thing...
And now for the picture, argh, I LOVE that angle like... askdjjsf. Dude, I just love it. And that particular shirt/vest/tunic-thingy looks so awesome, I just want to try wearing it. *___* Probably without the flaming super cape, though. >.>;

Oh my gosh, it's been years since I last looked at this and now that coat of his reminds me of Gundam pilots. Specifically those in Zeon, like Char Aznable. ...Side effect of playing Super Robot Wars games, I think.
And that just makes me want to crossover Norse gods into mecha pilots in the SRW franchise. Not sure whether I'm amused or awed by that idea. (Like... Heimdall, Loki and Thor with the Shin Getter. It suits them. XD This thing ; Loki would pilot Hayato's unit, Thor gets Benkei's and Heimdall gets Ryoma's. Their personalities match - Hayato's a bit of a provocative jerk, Benkei is the "big guy" and Ryoma is the loner who does his own thing... and Hayato used to screw with Ryoma a lot when they first met.)

Ohh believe me, they WILL have a troll-off. xDD It's proving to be extremely challenging to write for actually... since they're both mastermind sorcerers of nearly identical intellect with an equal taste for trickery. It's gonna get insane, but I must say I'm looking forward to it. xD;

Whoa, this is great! I actually thought this was the Loki we're most familiar with (you know, the one that lives in Asgard), until I read your description. It actually makes sense that the two of them would resemble each other - not because they're related (or are they?
