Many unfortunate lives were lost during Subject-1954, now known colloquially as Godzilla's rampage through the city of Tokyo in November 1954, but none were as eccentric and everlasting as Dr. Koji Serizawa. Being one of the most influential figures in the Foundation's most discussed time, as an Anomalous Fallout Specialist, he would spend his time in the most devastated of epicenters from anomalous organisms, sites that would certainly mean routine trips to the Foundation-issue therapist, but his outgoing and positive demeanor truly raised morale when it was at an all-time low in the organization, with many resignations and suicides rising after the end of World War 2. But Koji's uplifting will made it certain that he had the potential to bring the Foundation back from the brink of collapse. However, all good things must come to an end, as with the aftermath of Subject-1954's reappearance in the public eye, one that the Foundation could no longer cover up, he was met with the deaths of his parents and sister, the train they were evacuating on being destroyed by Subject-1954 tearing it apart with its teeth. Now, that once outgoing and positive Koji had become a quiet, distant shell of his former self, as even with the lives of his wife Emiko and son Ryu being saved during the chaos, the guilt of not being able to save his parents and younger sibling ate away at him like a cancer, his wife being subjected to acute radiation poisoning, and his son losing his right eye from falling debris during the attack. Koji had distanced himself from the rest of the Foundation, and soon after his death, his colleague and lifelong friend Hidetaka Yamane, discovered this photo and a note attached to it, the latter written by Koji.

"Over 13 million people. We hadn’t a clue as to what would become of our home. The Foundation tried to evacuate them, to set up a defense against him, but none of it worked. By the time it was over, it felt like a repeat of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had happened all over again, but somehow even worse; Hidetaka and I were some of the only survivors of his rampage through Tokyo. 10,000 people were spared by the end of that nightmare. My parents, my sister, my friends, my home… all gone. I’m so thankful my dear Emiko and Ryu were able to escape the carnage. We are merely pests on this planet, and he is the one to exterminate us. But I won’t let that happen; I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that humanity survives to see a new millennium. I’ve created something, a device… a weapon that I am certain will finally rid us of the beast we awoke - the one we scarred. I just wanted to write this so that when I’m gone, and hopefully he is too, you will understand my sacrifice, and prosper in my absence.

Dr. Serizawa passed away three days after writing this note to his family and as a letter of resignation to the Nautilus Foundation in a suicide mission in Tokyo Bay in an attempt to terminate Subject-1954, utilizing a crudely made biological weapon that the rest of the Foundation have referred to as the [DATA EXPUNGED] before stealing a diving suit from the newly established JSDF and descending into the depths of the bay were Subject-1954 was hypothesized to reside. Due to the intense, lethal radioactivity the anomalous organism produces, it's theorized that Koji slowly, but painfully dealt with the effects of the radioactive isotopes, bringing the device to Godzilla, and allowing himself to be consumed by the resulting blast of the weapon. The [DATA EXPUNGED]'s blast was well over 20 kilotons and managed to leave Tokyo Bay completely inhospitable for organic life for 40 years, and is still dealing with some long-lasting effects 100 years later. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, Godzilla somehow survived the detonation, and escaped into the South China Sea, following the Kuroshio current before disappearing from radar detection. Koji's attempt at terminating Subject-1954 had proved to be a failure, but his sacrifice had given the Foundation some crucial information on the mental faculties of their personnel, and as such, began the FTP or Foundation Therapy Program, where top psychiatrists are hand-picked to integrate into the Nautilus Foundation's staff to help improve morale, discuss victims of Kaiju attacks, and the tragic reality of working hard to protect the human race from such threats. Today, Koji is survived by his descendants, Dr. Ichiro Serizawa and G-Force operative Kujiro Serizawa, both sons of famed Foundation scientists Emiko and Daisuke Serizawa.
