Description Some angels come with judgment but regret it nonetheless. Others have already fallen.
Both come with fire.

I painted this one stylistic and symbolic, working in the cross through the sword and the position of the body. I wanted him to be sad or thoughtful in a subtle way, perhaps contemplating the burden of his task.

Acrylics on canvas.

I think you managed quite well to make him look sad and thoughtful. Could invent lots of stories, when I look at him...

He's brilliant!

That's the one I've been searching for! May I use him as an illustration for my free card game licenced under creative commons? See my profile for some examples.

Hmm... Sprechen ist schwierig. Schreiben geht einfacher. Wie bei mir mit Englisch.

Whee! En ny målning! (: Så vacker... du lyckades verkligen att förmedla känsla i hans ansikte och hållning! (:
Bra jobb på alla de små detaljerna i rustningen. Hans vingar är också jättevackra... och aningen dramatiska faktiskt C:

That feeling of sadness and contemplation definitely came through - the head tilt and downward look make him seem to be weary, but the mouth shape makes him seem determined at the same time.

I also very much like the colour of the fire. It makes me think of endless burning rather than a quick explosion, which seems to fit the figure very well.

What size of canvas do you usually paint on?

It is always very cool to read your comments. You somehow remind me of Burne Hogarth!

I really fancy academy board (but they are a little harder to put on the wall without framing), but for canvases I like 15 x 11 inches and 18 x 15 inches. Those sizes allows me to avoid details, which I otherwise can overdo.

Grondhammar In reply to Morhin [2009-11-14 21:00:48 +0000 UTC]

Good idea. I tend towards larger canvases (24 x 36 inches being as small as I usually paint on). But I always end up getting caught in the details and never give everything the balance it deserves.

I'm flattered being compared in any way to Burne Hogarth!
