Description This is my version of the map of Creation (the world of the RPG Exalted). I tried to "naturalize" the colors and keep the entire map neutral.

The fullview is down-sized.

oh wow really amazing job.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble do u think you could offer me some advice. i've been trying to make a map for a story using photoshop, i got the outline all right but making the textures for different environments was proving to be difficult.

i can guess that you probably used emboss for your mountains?(unless im guessing wrong) but what are the textures you used for the forests and land?

Sure, it's all about making layer effects and getting interesting textures from your own photos or from the net. Take an interesting pattern (small granules, pebbles, rocks, sand for example) go to Edit and then make a pattern (name it). In the layer effects menu, you can apply your textured pattern. Save the particular setting as a Style (if you want to apply it more than once or to other maps).

For the mountains I embossed differently shaded areas in about three layers (three separate embossments then!) and melded them together.

To fade the borders of textured areas (to not have them sticking out to much) use Unsharp mask.

If there's something more you want to know, just ask.

I didn't realize you were the one who did this. I've been using this in my game for awhile after linking to it from the WW forums. Thank you!
