Description Here is a picture of my primary character for Haezyn .

If the wings look a little wonky, it's because of her angle and I don't have much experience with the foreshortening of wings. Also, I've forgotten something in her design that most all of my dragons have, which is a second un-webbed shorter 'finger' near the 'thumb' of the wing. I won't fix it, mostly out of laziness, but I kind of like where she is at now.

Description:

Dahssia is smallish, about the size of a lynx. Green with brown banding, she is perfectly camouflaged for forest life. She has no scales, instead possessing a leathery hide, with a pebbly texture. Sharp, flexible spines adorn her along her spine and down her tail (like a lion-fish, but lacking poison) and framing her jaws.

She can fly, her wings being bat-like and delicate, each bone ending in a dainty claw used primarily for gripping a tree when hiding. She favors her right foreleg a little, an oldish injury making it painful in cold weather. She has one breath attack, being fire, but is is only used in dire situations, as it uses the precious gases that make her light enough to fly. If used, she must eat and rest to recover for at least a day.

Tied around the end of her tail (between two spines) is a small blue-jay feather, given to her in a time of distress by a friendly -if spastic- blue-jay (not to be confused with a Stellars Jay or Scrub-Jay).

Due to a recent mis-adventure back to her home region she is a bit thinner and harder looking than before, and some spots of her hide and wings are laced with healing scratches and a bite or two. (not shown)

Personality:

Inquisitive by nature she is curious of many creatures close to her size or smaller, but nervous of larger creatures; including large herbivores/omnivores. She feels possessive of creatures she considers friends, and will be much more quick to use her breath weapon in defense of them than of herself, even to the point of trying to frighten perceived threats that may not actually be dangerous.

She is often ruled by her stomach, but is under self-discipline to not eat any creature that talks. Instead she opts for fish, clams, and a variety of invertebrates. One of her favorite treats is cooked fish, and will sometimes be careless in her attempts to obtain it, throwing caution to the wind.

History, if any:

Born to the last clutch of an old breeding pair, she was an oddity of the bunch. Once her mother and father started bringing live prey to the nest, the hatchling was visibly disturbed by the pleading cries of the small animals. She refused to eat, and was on the verge of starvation when her father thought to bring a fish to the nest.

Once Dahssia realized that this food would not cry out in terror or pain, she quite happily began to eat again. Her nest-mates did not associate with her, being the different one, but she was regarded with confused fondness by her parents.

Upon leaving the nest, Dahssia staked out a small territory near a clear stream from which to fish. Her home was a large cedar, lightning struck but still living. she stayed here for some years, content in her solitude, refining her fishing abilities, and listening to the gossip from the birds.

One fateful day, a brother from a clutch several summers before hers encountered her territory. He and his mate liked it- especially the tree- and they attacked Dahssia, driving her out from her home. Now she wanders Haezyn, looking for a new tree (preferably one near a stream) to call her own.

Edit For some clarification on size, and which lynx she most resembles in mass...Dahssia is approximately 24" at the shoulder and the length of her body from tip of snout to end of tail is approximately 80" long, with a wingspan of roughly 170". With her wings unfolded and in flight she looks huge at first glance, but she really isn't. She's lightly built, leggy and with the light gases she produces to help her fly, she's no more than about 30lbs. I's say somewhere about the size of a large bobcat or smaller Iberian lynx in mass.
