Description Happy Monday, folks!

It's been a while since my last update but I'll hopefully be able to catch up on my update-a-day schedule as of today. And what better way to kickstart the aforementioned plan than with some artwork of the latest grand HBO production?

I always loved WESTWORLD's concept, even if the original film didn't do it much justice due to the time's FX limitations. That said, the idea was great and the relentless nature of the machines that turned on their human creators was a prequel of what I'd love about 'The Terminator' and many other sci-fi stories in which AI is pitched against us. Now, what Jonathan Nolan and company did was expand and dig much deeper into the basic premise that showed so much promise, delivering an almost perfect product that easily became a favorite.Β
The intertwined narratives, coupled with the stellar acting, settings and many awe-inspiring special effects (worthy of A-title Hollywood films!) has made this series something that I'll doubtlessly rewatch every time I get a chance. There's so many little details that are perfectly placed as well as a very explicit love of Crichton's original that 'Westworld' something worthy of analysis and study.

I began this piece back when the series premiered and since I couldn't dedicate a whole lot of time to it, due to other pressing deadlines I completed it slowly through the unfolding of the first season. Quite a task, since I usually couldn't just stop watching the screen to lay down colors I tried to mix some of the symbolisms seen in the show as well as depict what to me were the main characters in this tale or at least, the ones that summed up best what the core conflict was all about: Host Dolores Abernathy and her nemesis, the Man in Black. The vignettes showing Dolores' artificial nature as well as the hint of the fabled Maze I think all contribute to make this a fitting homage to this amazing production.

As usual, I leave the final judgement to you and I hope you also enjoyed Westworld; if you didn't, do yourselves as favor and watch it.

I wish you all a great week and see you tomorrow!

Nic.-

I realized earlier today that Bang Bang by Nina Sinatra (from the killbill soundtrack) goes perfectly with the relationship between the man in black and Dolores (hopefully you've watched the whole season)

Sweet! Westworld is awesome. I like that the "production" frames are in black-and-white; they definitely give off the cold, artificial vibe that Man in Black frequently complains about in regard to the hosts, and are a nice nod to the style of the show's intro sequence.

That's quite the dilemma you have going thre, Will I'd of course recommend it; I think it is sci-fi at its best. A little slow burn, a lot of questions asked, but when the flood gates finally open, it just gets better by the minute and all those threads and seeds planted at the beginning take on a much bigger significance.

The good thing about this iteration of the concept is that the showrunners clearly love the original films and they've peppered easter eggs throughout and various nods for the keen eye which I'm sure you have. I'd say go for it; you'll find (like I did) that they not only stayed true to Crichton's original idea, but dug deeper into it.
