The Metal Gear Solid franchise is FULL of twists and swerves throughout the story. Most are pretty slow building and not surprising when they finally spell it out, but there are a few times when you truly do not see a twist coming. That part is usually reserved to the very VERY end of the game, post credits and all. The inspiration for this piece is found in the 'wrap up' of MGS2. They show this graphic and says they are, basically, the shadow figures who run the whole world, then they proceed to tell you that THEY'VE ALL BEEN DEAD....FOR OVER 100 YEARS. *BOOM* Mind blown. The MGS franchise is very polarizing. You either love it, or have no taste for it and simply don't care anything for it.
This piece was a ton of work, but that's because I wanted it to be SO CLOSE to it's inspiration. I'm still considering doing a .GIF of how the censors appeared before the faces behind them, one by one, until they're all assembled. And I may do an even closer rendition by making all the portraits B&W. What do you all think? I'd love some input!
