Description I made this for a friend's birthday party. I was on a budget and didn't have much time to make something, so I went with plum polyester shantung fabric (not historically accurate), and Simplicity pattern 2881 because JoAnn's had a $1 pattern sale. The pattern choice was a big mistake. 2/10 would not recommend. The only thing good about it is that it has you cartridge pleat the skirt. The fit of the bodice is ridiculously off. It allows for 6 inches of ease in the bust, so I had to redraw the bodice pattern pieces and the fit STILL ended up being off.

Overall though, I'm okay with how this dress ended up. It was fun to wear for the cotillion, and everyone else seemed to like it. The party was more about having fun hanging out with other people in fancy dress anyway, and that was a success.

It looks very pretty! (: I like the color, not too bright not too boring, nice! That lace/?/ though in the front seems kind of out of place, doesn't match with anything. but still nice job! (:

Thank you! I originally thought of putting lace trim on the sleeves as well, but when it came down to it the sleeves seemed busy enough already.
