Description Some further garden bird photographs obtained using my Canon EOS M5 control from afar by a Samsung smart phone.

Female (?) goldfinch feeding.
Hidden GemsAfter only 1 year, I have managed to investigate and to get working one of the major features of my Canon EOS M5 mirrorless camera: the WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities such that the camera can be linked wirelessly to my smart phone, in this case a Samsung S8. I had tried this when I first bought the camera, but got hopeless lost trying to set it up. Now, with more determination, I have managed it. The upshot is that I can remotely control and fire the M5 from the smart phone. Given that WiFi and Bluetooth communications cam take place over 10s of meters, I need not be any where near the camera in order to operate it. The result is that I can set up the camera near wildlife, go away and be out of sight, yet take shots when something interesting comes into range. Basically, that is how I have been taking the recently posted shots of garden birds and intruders such as those below.

I adore the tones of this shot!  And the bird's position shows off the white markings on his wings better. !

I agree that the colouration is more natural in this shot, Linda, more detail as well. You see that the yellow stripe is less marked than in the other shot, and that suggests that this is the female.

Many Thanks

All the finches are ever wary, Steven, and they are especially so when eating. The finches have a bit of a "greedy" streak in that they will perch for a while and eat as much as they can. The tits, OTOH, land, grab, fly - all over in a cpouple of seconds.
