Description So, I was going to post the planets in order and thus post Mercury next, but with the theme of the third week of Per-SCI-nify being planets, I decided to rope in The Solar System Squad, and went with Venus over Mercury because I find the planet more interesting. Venus is my second-favorite planet after Jupiter, and Jupiter only comes in first because of its moons. Going by the planet alone, Venus is my favorite. So, this post doubles as a Per-SCI-nify "submission" and a regular SSS reference/profile. I drew the picture itself back in July.

Name: Venus Aphrodite Cythera Galaxy

Celestial Body: Venus

Gender: Female (she/her)

Orientation: Aromantic Asexual

Age: 4.5 billion

Birthday:

Place of Birth: Protoplanetary disk

Occupation: Member of the Solar System Squad

Relatives: Sun (father), Mercury (brother), Earth (twin sibling), Mars (brother), Jupiter (brother), Saturn (brother), Uranus (brother), Neptune (brother)

Significant Other(s): NONE, OKAY?

Physical Appearance: 193 cm (6’4”) tall. Moderately curvy rectangular figure, with moderate muscle and fat. Light brown skin tone. Round face with pointed chin. Round, light yellow eyes. Medium broad rounded nose. Several prominent scars on her face and body; the most visible are on the right side of her face, her neck, and her right hand. The scars appear darker than the rest of her skin. Wavy waist-length hair that is reddish brown with gray streaks, but appears orange in the light. Usually wears a grayish white T-shirt, a yellow jacket with irregular gray lines running across it and metallic gray trim around the neckline, reddish brown pants, and orange shoes with yellow laces and brown soles.

Personality: “I’m going to leave the room for five minutes, so please don’t mess everything up while I’m gone.”

When the rest of the Solar System Squad comes up with wacky plans, Venus is the one to bring them back to reality. She’s normally mildly annoyed, but she is hard to anger. She lets her anger build up under her surface, releasing it in occasional large bursts. Other people’s emotions have almost no effect on her. She comes across as unfeeling and uncaring, but she tries to help people through actions rather than feelings. She can be harsh, berating others for minor mistakes with words that sting like acid. Secretly she is emotionally vulnerable, and lets every criticism of her harsh tactics get to her head. She responds by being harsher herself, perpetuating the cycle. She strives toward practicality and views the quirks of the other planets as unnecessary. She imposes her own views on others, taking over leadership roles from the Sun, whenever she feels a plan is too over-the-top. She takes few breaks, overworking herself, because she views downtime as wasted time. She dislikes jokes, which have given her a reputation of being no fun. Still, her “boring” plans end up being innovative, and she has an eye for seeing things from a different angle than everyone else. When she was young she was closer to Earth, and the two young planets had similar personalities. Back then she was adventurous, yet still friendly. But the young Sun had a tendency to tease her, which made her bitter and angry. The angrier she got, the more the young Sun teased her, which made her angrier. Eventually all her anger boiled over and she isolated herself. She’s mellowed out from her peak of anger, but the friendliness of her youth is long gone. She’s interested in inorganic chemistry and has converted half her room into a lab. When she’s not busy keeping the Solar System Squad in line, she can be found performing experiments. She’s close to the Sun, and he has a soft spot for her and happily provides her with “warmth”, but he wishes she would stay in her place and not try to boss him around. Though she’s not as close to Earth and Mars as she was in her youth, she still hangs out with them. She dislikes all the probes and landers that Earth sends her way, destroying any that get too close to her. Humans often fall for her, expecting her to live up to her name as a goddess of love, but Venus is aromantic and uninterested in romance of any kind. She's even harsher on humans than other Celestials as a result.
Venus is exclusively left-handed. She has the power to heat up objects, and her power to do so is even stronger than Mercury's heat power (not to mention she has better control over it). She can create thick clouds made out of sulfuric acid that both obstruct and corrode, and she can create liquid sulfuric acid by concentrating her clouds. She can crush objects under the pressure of her hands.

Design Notes: Venus is a few centimeters shorter than her twin sibling Earth, as the planet Venus has a radius that is only a few hundred kilometers smaller than Earth’s radius. She has less body fat, but has more muscle than Earth, making their body masses similar. The extra muscle makes her body more angular than Earth’s, highlighting her harsh personality. Her shapes consist of squares, representing her role as the “sane man” of the planets, and triangles, representing her harsh, angry side. Her skin is the lightest of the planets, as Venus has the highest albedo (it reflects the most light). Her scars represent impact craters, and even though she has fewer of them than the other terrestrial planets, her scars are slow to heal, as much of the craters on Venus are in pristine condition. Her off-white T-shirt and her yellow eyes and jacket represent the pale yellowish white color of Venus’ cloud cover. She’s the only planet who wears a short-sleeve shirt because she’s the hottest planet. Even though the dayside of Mercury gets nearly as hot, Mercury needs the long sleeves to protect his skin without a jacket (atomposhere). Her thick jacket represents Venus’ thick atmosphere, and she never takes her jacket off, even when she’s very hot. The metallic trim on her jacket represents the bright “snow” on mountain peaks on Venus, which might be made of metal sulfides. Her orange hair represents the color that Venus’ surface appears in photographs, while the true reddish brown/gray color of her hair and her pants represent the actual color of the rocks on the surface. Her shoes combine the yellow, orange, and brown previously mentioned.

I promise that the next Solar System Squad profile will be that of Mercury (the planet, not the element!)

Interesting!! 😊😊😊🤭 I love how even though she's one of the few girls in the series, she isn't like the typical token girl and doesn't fit those stereotypes!!! 😁😁 it's also great how she represents aroace people who are considered to be attractive!! Representation matters!!! 😊😊💯💯
