So what do you think? do you like it or not. tnx for comments if any.

Such blade would do fine for concepts and promo-art, plus - would do nicely in some of hack'n'slash games, where no one cares about actual realism or even allusion on things to be possible at least in some way.
Though even looking quite unusual and unpleasantly-dangerous (reminds a creepy scalpel...), this one also reminds... a scale. One with mm and inches mark on it. No matter how good is the idea - first visual impression might be -critical- for future product, be it a movie, a game, a comix or anything else.
When one gets a feedback on a character with "deadly scythe" - is is fine, yet a character with "deadly scale ruler"... might be specific.

-In it's structure, this blade is weak. Explanations about being made from "unobtanium and fantasteel alloy" are possible, yet might be a cliche.

-Its guard is useless, due to any glancing blow will proceed further - and meet one's body way likely, that common "cross guard".

-Due to specific curve and proportions, this one might be way more difficult to hold.

- Its knuckle guard is a protractor scale... Especially with several lines and writings on it.

- Will become a curse cleaning it every time with all those holes and joints...

BUT, this blade cam easily become a way better result, if re-made into a complicated structure - for example, a segmented blade, transformable into a whip-like weapon. Cyberpunk and sci-fi settings could easily benefit from such concept - and overall silhouette of this blade matches such construction perfectly.
To achieve that, one should attend to re-shaping back line of the blade, turning it from "metal plate with screws" into joints between segments.

Hi.yea it is meant for pc game not real world. I know it could be be ardly using in reality. But if you look to my gallery some of concepts are even more crazy then this one. I think to make it more real I would trim the fat to loose weight significantly. turn bending in opposit direction and instead of that blade below grip I would use some kind of grip extension. (becouse this setup will be always quite heavy.....)Β

Let me get the annoyance out of the way first: Were anyone other than the intended cyborg to use this, it would be extremely dangerous to them. Humans, even skilled fighters would have trouble fighting while keeping the small section below the handle from hurting them.

Now that that's out of the way, this sword is the epitome of originality. I never in my life could have come up with an eccentric design like this. There's a beauty to it, even as it keeps it's style and form.

Once again, the functionality is raised with the ability to cheaply manufacture blade replacements, rather than full swords. I just wouldn't want to be on the battlefield, undoing all those screws in the middle of a fight. But I'm sure the material lends itself to durability.

The inside curve to this sword is definitely something you don't see everyday and I think the artist took full use of his license in designing it that way. In a fight, when swords are crossed ever so dramatically, the user would have the upper hand with the curve granting better leverage and the ability to safely place a hand up the back of the blade to push harder.

Overall, I give this blade a nearly perfect score for it's originality and functionality. Definitely a nice piece to have for display...or use, if you're a cyborg.

Hi. Tnx for review. I wanted to be original therefore i choose this unusal form. I have no experience with real swords and that bottom blade under handle I did just to keep flow of desing. I think it could be usuefull for example when you attach and opponent block you by his sword you can easily turn blade and hit him from below. But that apendix at the bottom can be easily be replaced by som handle extention so you can use both hand to grip to have more power while slashing....

From modeling viewpoint it is not as hard is it might look. while mdoeling you always have to look for some easy way to do model and in this case is simple. Whole model is done in aboslutly narrow direction and when everithing is done then you bend it as one big object. otherwise it is possible to model it Β in curve since begining but it would take more time and it wold be also more difficult. But it could be done in this second way as well.

bye

With the critique out of the way, I think this is a sweet ass sword and I'd love to see it in real life.

You can't use that in a real battle. You can cut yourself and is it a wakasashi sword if it is the end of the sword would be alot trouble.

hi it is designed for fictional world not real one. Β To be useable in real world it can be fixed in way I would turn bend in opposite direction and blade under grip I would replace by some kind of grip extention.Β

The blade is reversed and it would be terribly balanced and awkward to hold as a Katana styled weapon, any otherway would be just as awkward as the balance is pushed forward

A cyber-yatagan! Brilliant!

Reminds me of the Aztec obsidian axe-swords and the Polynesian sharktooth-lined swords.

This construction means the edge can be extremely hard and sharp (perhaps monomolecular?), without the danger of the whole blade becoming brittle, although the joints are a weak point, but I presume the edge sections are meant to be disposable anyways. Very industrial.

The small blade on the pommel is nowhere near as dangerous to the user as some claim, and in fact it can be useful for pommel strikes, even if troublesome for carrying. A separate hilt-scabbard, perhaps?

The gaps between the edge sections would probably snag on clothing or flesh, though.

Really nice blade. You might flip the side the blade is on since its a slashing weapon. Having the blade on the inside of the curve would hinder the slashing action rather than aiding it.

Very cool! Β I'd just like to say that I've read many of the comments and I disagree with the idea that the smaller blade is dangerous to the user. Β I'm pretty sure that the only way to be cut by that (while using it) is to point the sword lower than normal wrists can bend or to thrust to the side from the most awkward angle possible. Β I would go so far as to say that the extra blade could act as a minor counterweight to improve balance and opens up several possibilities in combat. Β This may be a stretch (quite literally) but if you could create a certain situation, you could throw a sort of punch with the blade in hand and have the smaller blade act as a knife in this case. Β

In conclusion, I think that people need to think more creatively when it comes to bladed weapons and take chances to create something new and great, like you do.

Overall I really like this sword but I would make some adjustments to improve it's handling and enable the possibility to thrust.
The blade at the end of the hilt is rather pointless. I would change it for a extended handle to support the cutting power of push- and pull-cuts.
Literally on the other end I would switch the last segment to an opposite curved point. Thrusts are a key-element in fighting although this blade is mainly designed for cutting.
Your design is open for those modifications because all blades could be replaced and this is the real reason I love this sword or precisely its shell.
