Description This is a mostly-watercolor painting that I did for a watercolor class in college. There's some graphite and colored pencil in there also to bring out details. I think cockatoos are just goofy critters, and I wanted to try to show that with this little painting.

I donated the original picture to the Lymphoma Society of Kansas City, so I'm not sure who has it now.

Hey, that's awesome! We need good art teachers. We *always* need good art teachers. I'm glad you're willing to put up with all of the education claptrap to be able to fill kiddy noggins full of good artsy things.

Yes, I majored in commercial art/illustration, but then went off and got a job in the tech industry. I found through college that I'm prone to burn-out (or was at the time) and needed a fairly stable day job to keep food on the table. From what I've seen, it's only the very, very dedicated folks who can truly make a living as a fine artist or a commercial artists. I realized early on that I was and always will be a hobbyist.

For the watercolors, I believe that they were Graham, which is a subsidiary company of Graumbacher (sp). The colored pencils are definitely Prismacolors, because I'm as finicky as a cat and won't use anything else.

Gah, yes, bloody PINK! Hard to find Leadbeaters in captivity, though.
