Description England, year 1607, the 3 ships are preparing for a voyage that resulted in the founding of the first permanent English settlement in North America. So generally this is a first step towards a colony which became the United States.
The Biggest one was called Susan Constant. My imagination was showing me some cold peacefull mornig in big port, so I paint it like that. I like the seagulls a lot so there are some

Just photoshop and intous tablet. For the ships I have a simple 3d model for basic perspective. The whole picture was a kind of slow process but I enjoyed it.

I like it maybe more than my last works, but dont know if its really better. Any commnets are welcome.

Wow!

This is one the most realistic painted pictures that I have ever seen!

Keep up the good work! You are very talented!

Amazing when you think about it, for the United States this was it, the start, just a few ships and a few brave souls who dared to brave the unknown.

Trouble is, the Susan B. Constant wasn't nearly this big. Almost none of the early settler ships were. (I'm a lucky man. I had a collateral ancestor on her in 1607.)

In 1607 Union Jacks were only used at sea, on the tower to the left, there is a Union Jack. This is incorrect.

Source:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Jaโ€ฆ

"This royal flag was, at first, to be used only at sea on civil and military ships of both England and Scotland, whereas land forces continued to use their respective national banners. [23]ย  "..." After the Acts of Union 1707 , the flag gained a regularised status as "the ensign armorial of the Kingdom of Great Britain ", the newly created state. It was then adopted by land forces as well, although the blue field used on land-based versions more closely resembled that of the blue of the flag of Scotland."

Very lovely though.

If you like fantasy ships, I have many concepts but not the time and skill to make them to glamorous art works like you can do. Interested in a co-operation?

This I think would benefit from clearer demarcations between light and shadow, now it blurs into grey nuances. Other than that a beautiful picture!
