model for one of three schoolworks for this semester - gas station.the whole point of this one is the roof, as you can see. it's becouse the gas station groudplan area is pretty large and roof was the only way how to conect the whole thing together.
yes, creating it was just crazy, i'm not sure if i want to do it ever again. but i think that the result is not bad.
more models will come soon, but i guess this one is the most interesting one.

dik... jo, urcite je, tyhle stanovy strechy nejsou nic novyho pod sluncem, pouziva se to bezne. ten navrh je trochu prisernost z doby kdy jsem zacinal studovat arch, radsi se k tomu uz nehlasim

he invented that "tent" architecture. he already did this in '67 for the expo in montreal

yes I do. yes this is quite standard technology used on thousands of structures around the world nowadays actually... Frei Otto was sort of pioneer of it.

I think this is insanely awesome. It's a totally unusual design for a gas station but that's what gives it it's appeal. You managed to give a "dirty" place like a gas station a natural organic feel... hope they sell bio fuel

yes that's what I've been trying to do. it had to look rather like cosy cafe tent then a gas station. The organic tent-style roof isn't original at all, but to create a model of it was a challenge

I've seen that kind of tents done before yeah, but the concept and context of it to be used for a gas station is very original. I can imagine it was insane to recreate that look on a small scale

This design would go perfect here in the UAE. I'm sure a firm in Dubai or Abu Dhabi would jump on this.

ah my most favourite of your recents. Love the model, what textile material did you use as the membrane part? Very organic and well crafted model and design. it would require a fair bit of ground space around the gas station core just for the roof thou. Try and consider site space economy next time so that just the roof doesnt require so much surrounding land to have it work.
Love the way you present it as usualy raven, very visually sound! Truely awesome

I know this type of "tent" roof isn't very original, but I like it a lot becouse of the perfect parabolical shapes it makes itself, somehow it allways looks good and natural. I'd love to study some theory about these construction and use them one day as part of the architectural designs...

jasne. pokud to postavi, bude to nejlepsi kus architektury v praze od II. svetovy valky, minimalne. je to ulet a chapu ze se to mnoha lidem nelibi, nicmene ta stavba je skoro po vsech strankach dokonala a docela prevratna.
jinak, u benzinky jsem se rozhodne neinspiroval novou budouvou NK. tenhle typ stanovy strechy se v moderni architekture pouziva neustale uz nekdy od pulky 20. stoleti, tim je ten navrh velmi neoriginalni protoze na tom neni moc co novyho vymyslet. jinak je to jeden z nejzakladnejsich a nejucinejsich stavebnich postupu uz od praveku. vyuzivala to treba i goticka architektura, i kdyz ne konstrukcne, pouze vizualne (sv. Barbora v KH, sv. Mikulas v Lounech...)

Super chlape... Uz se tesim az konecne neco postavis.. Mimochodem zaujala te naka architektura v cesku v posledni dobe? Ja dneska sel po narodce a je tam skvelej cernej barak (asi hotel) s hospodou dole... Videls to? Nak Metropolis se to menuje... Pride mi ze to je vazne pomerne slusna prace... jak interier tak exterier hm?

na narodce cernej barak s hospodou dole? ty jo to nevim, budu se pozorne koukat kolem az tam priste pujdu... jinak k cesky architekture: hele, ne. vpodstate ne. jako o hodne dobrym pocinu se mluvi o galerii benedikta rejta v lounech, ty interiery se zdaji byt dost slusny, na nase pomery, ale z venci je to strasny, spatne udelany, osklivy, neprijemny, "dvur" normalne z neupravenych drev. lati, takze uz je to tak prohnily ze se to podemnou propadalo a jedna se zlomila, neco neuveritelnyho. nova nar. tech. knihovna je taky hnus podle me. docela se me libi rekonstrukce libereckyho magistratu, ten interier vypada fajn, mam rad kombinaci drevenych podlah, betonovych zdi a detailu v ostrych barvach... jinak me to prijde porad zoufaly. sem tam se objevi neco co neurazi, ale ze by me neco vylozene u nas nadchlo, to ani nahodou. pokud narazis na neco co te zaujme, dej vedet
