It can be difficult to get Jun-ho’s attention, or much of a reaction at first, as he tends to be in his head a lot. His introspective nature makes it so that he overthinks things before responding. This might be confused for being shy, but he’s simply quiet, not always finding it necessary to add to the conversation. This trait can be disastrous at times, as he might not voice something that’s bothering him. Being pessimistic, he might accidentally get caught up in his own negative thoughts, and it could go unnoticed until he’s much worse off.

Jun-ho was born to a loving family, but his parents’ life didn’t slow down for him. His father worked long hours as a public servant to support the family, while his mother worked hard both as a mother, and towards her dream, opening a small cafe and bakery 4 years later.

The new house they had moved into was upstairs to the cafe, and Jun-ho was wary of the strangers downstairs. He would often quietly spend his days inside, drawing, and art continued to be his main interest through primary school. With encouragement from his parents, Jun-ho found other interests, but he was still often in his own world. Rather than sports or music, he found joy in copying patterns from old books, and collecting odd trinkets.

Time went on, and art continued to sit in the back of his mind. Jun-ho was average in school, and lacked any natural ability towards sports. He didn’t see much point in working on something he wasn’t good at, until one day when the Olympics were on. He had stopped to watch a round of swimming, and was left in awe as the swimmers cut through the water. They looked solid and strong, but also fluid and graceful, just like the water.. It was if they were defying nature’s limitations. It was amazing. Jun-ho clung to that feeling with the simple thought, “I want to do that too.”

Not long after, Jun-ho had his mind set on becoming a professional swimmer, boasting about how he was going to be in the Olympics some day. His parents were a bit shocked, as they had never seen him be so.. loud about anything before, but they happily obliged. Their enthusiasm, however, was short lived, as Jun-ho lacked any natural ability for the sport. Even for a beginner, he was awful. No breath control, terrible coordination… he could hardly even float. His parents thought for sure that he would want to quit, but he kept begging them to keep going.

On the surface, it seemed like things continued the same for a while, but time can make change difficult to notice. Helping out around the family’s cafe, Jun-ho’s confidence improved, and going into high school, his looks and swimming were improving drastically as well. With his budding popularity, Jun-ho became more outgoing and made new friends. He felt like he had more space to explore his interests in art and what he wanted out of life, but with it came a lot of confusion. Struggling to hold together everything in his life, Jun-ho’s swimming and grades started to slip.

He eventually realized he had to decide what was really important to him, and he knew the answer had to be swimming. Although trying to balance all the aspects of his life, he drifted apart from his relationships, and set aside his art. He knew that if he wanted to get into a good school, he had to put all his focus and effort into qualifying for competitions and improving his grades. Blindly charging forward with the remaining time he had, he did just that.

Taking notice of his determination, a coach offered to train him for his last few years of school. Jun-ho quickly improved, reaching new goals that would’ve been impossible on his own. Seeing how serious he was, his coach suggested referring him to Hanwool College. Not needing to give it any further thought, Jun-ho eagerly applied, hoping that his recent improvements would be enough.

.Dreams.

Jun-ho is currently giving it his all to make onto a national swim team and earn a medal at the Olympics. He doesn’t feel like he can move on with his life until he succeeds. After he’s done with the olympics, he wants to celebrate by getting a tattoo and then work on another career.
