Description Athanasios and Callisto in the Cavitto Monthly Contest
Month: August
Theme: Dead Heat

Heat is… the sun's searing rays on desert sand.
Heat is… a brightly burning flame.
Heat is… the feeling that consumes your soul and spreads through your body when you are in love.
Heat is… a mare's power, over a stallion, in menstrus (aka in-heat).

And the collective culmination of above… that, my friends, is Dead Heat (with, we shall not forget, the dead heat race... a.k.a. tie of two magnificent horses racing across the desert sands).

Ahhhh... less than 15 minutes left to upload this before the contest ends.   I had planned on cel-shading, but alas I just ran out of time.  But all that aside, I am so freakin' excited about this breeding!  I love both of these horses dearly, and can not wait to see what foal geno's I'm gonna get.    Now to upload before my last few minutes run out on me.

Beautiful poses and I love the idea behind this picture!
The markings on Athanasios look like flames which is matching the theme so well.
Beautiful work and I am so glad you have managed to keep on participating on each monthly theme!

Thank you so much.

I'm really happy that I did enter each month of the available contest - especially now that it has closed.  There is just something very satisfying about knowing that I was able to do that.    Now I get to look forward to new plans and ideas (and if I'm really lucky - maybe even finding some time to put them on paper ).

You're very welcome!

You really did an awesome job of entering each monthly theme! I failed with it because of procrastinating too long - I managed to enter only one for Nordanners!
But this was a good learning lesson for me: if I wait too long I might not be able to do things later at all.

Thank you.    Both Polaris and Mony have such gorgeous horses, I wanted to give them as much love and attention as I could in the lineart.
Truth be told, the manes and tails were really frustrating me... so it means alot to hear you say you like them.

O-m-g

This is SO beautiful, not only do those two look absolutely gorgeous (seriously, I cannot get over how amazing Athanasios looks in your style!), but I also love your interpretation of the theme!

I cannot wait to see the beautiful baby you'll get! Thank you so much for making such a wonderful image of my beloved boy

I'm so glad you think it turned out okay.  You have such an amazing stallion, I wanted to do him as much justice as I possibly could.
I was only bummed I ran out of time to shade the horses before the contest was over.  At least I got the sky and sand painted (that was really bland with flat colors).

And don't pay attention to their (both horses) minimally feathered feet.    I have been working on my sporthorses so much, that when I was done with the lines I realized I had spent forever trying to get the foot/leg anatomy right... and had forgotten their feathers.    But then, I didn't want to go back and cover all of my work with the legs... so I compromised and just added light feathering to them both... goes better with the race-across-the-desert look, yeah?

I'm so excited for the baby too.  Maybe there will have to be a cameo image of the foal & it's father together... in the future.

Thanks for the lovely comment hun.

You definitely did him justice, don't worry <3

I actually saw those feet and fell in love, they look amazing! I don't mind them not being fully feathered at all, I wouldn't want to erase all that hard work either if I was in your place!

You got such awesome genos girl I can't wait to see which one you'll choose!
And I would definitely love to see that

You're most welcome

The geno's!    OMG, I'm so excited.  I just have to find a minute to sit down and pick out which now... they're both so awesome!  I definitely need to work on making a design that this babies daddy will be proud of.

Thanks dahling!   I really had fun with this one... especially trying to figure out how many ways I could incorporate "heat" into one image.    The horses are such gorgeous creatures - I hope their owners think I did them justice - and I am really excited for their foal!
