As any of you that read my webcomic know, I love bittersweet moments...and complicated family dynamics.
One of the things that really hooked me in Avengers was Loki's constant struggle with "Sentiment" - like it's a disease he's trying to cure himself of, but can't quite let go. Like a moth to the flame, always drawn in, but time and again he turns away.
The quote by Thor about smoke and escape references a line in one of the deleted scenes from the Thor films. I thought it would be fun to incorporate a nod to the movie. Hope you enjoy it!

Thor makes me think of a giant golden retriever. A little slow sometimes, and sometimes unintentionally a pain in the butt, but goodness gracious is he full of boundless love!

Interestingly enough, the actor who plays Cap views his character as one of the most cynical of the group. Which I find a very interesting perspective.

I suppose we haven't seen much of post-WWII Cap, so maybe II will show off that cynicism. (Although certainly he's nowhere near as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as Thor.)

His expression in the last panel is great. And sad.
It's a nice fade out too, from the scene in Asgard to the scene where Loki is... wherever he is there.

I really wanted to contrast the two scenes visually with warm and cool colors. Also to use the blues to hint at Loki's Frost Giant heritage. I'm glad you enjoyed the result!

I have the same sort of feelings. Doesn't make his actions acceptable, but that also doesn't change the fact that the character is tragic.

Agreed. And sometimes, the most tragic characters are villains because they just became too blind to their options.
Let Loki be a lesson to us all: obsess too much on what don't have, and you might lose everything.
