Description

Can't imagine a better way to spend the afternoon of my birthday than to take pictures of half-naked BJDs....0_o

I really can, actually, but tutorials are always fun! Hope it's useful! Since my 'how to make your own wardrobe' tutorial mentioned how to make patterns, but didn't go into detail about what to measure and how to transfer it onto paper.

I love the tutorials and I got the shirt one down pat!  But I have a question, when doing the hips, do you use the full width around the doll's hips or do you halve that as well, like you halve the measurements of the thighs, knees, calves and heels?

The pants are giving me such a problem right now lol

So I hope you can give me some pointers on that to maybe clarify it?

I would also like to mention that I'm quite new to this whole sewing thing, but my boy needs better clothing that what I have for him right now  Thankfully, I have my best friend here to help me who knows a little more about sewing and she's trying to help me with this but for whatever reason it's not working out with the measurements on paper lol

Thank you so much in advanced!

Thank you! I'm really glad they're working for you!
So around the hips, let's say a BJD's hips are 20cm around, so I would cut out two pieces of material for the jeans that are 10cm wide at the hip portion each (or maybe a few millimeters more to give myself room for the seam width), and then when you sew them together, it comes out 20cm around, and it'll fit! (or it'll be a bit off and you'll have to tailor it slightly, which happens, and it's annoying but not a huge deal)
I hope this helps!! If you have any other questions though, let me know! My best friend and I sew together too, so I hope you guys have fun!

This is really helpful!! I tried to make a long shirt last night from your shirt tutorial (and thank you for your helpful reply there!), based on measurements I found online for the 27cm M chest Obitsu. However I only had measurements for arm length, bust, hip, waist, leg length. Which were helpful rather than just having the height, but, the lack of arm/upper arm circumference meant that I am pretty sure the arm holes turned out way too small ;A; - I can comfortable fit a pencil in them, but even though I'm expecting my first doll to be small at 1/6 scale, I am positive her arms will be bigger than pencil width lol. I checked my tracking this morning and found that my doll had been delivered, but to my old address - luckily my step brother lives at my old apartment! So I will receive my package this afternoon from him - the anticipation is killing me! I was planning to follow tutorials (especially yours! They're brilliant) to have a basic set of clothes ready for her when she arrives, but turns out there isn't much I can do without the measurements I need. She'll have to just wear the panties and socks I managed to make her successfully, until I can have her physically in my clutches and obtain the measurements I need -  there's only so much I could do without them ^^"

Oh, yeah, I know what you mean. While I was waiting for my first boy, I made him a t-shirt and a pair of drawstring pants just so he'd have something to wear when he got here. The pants fit well enough since they were drawstring, but the shirt was way too big. It's so hard unless the doll is right in front of you! XD Holy cow, I'm glad at least your brother lives there and not a stranger! I guess you will have gotten her by now! Congratulations! I hope her shirt fits! And I hope my tutorials end up being useful for you!

Yes, definitely easier with her in front of me now! I have made a long sleeved grey top trimmed with lace by following your tutorials, so thank you so much! If you like, you can see how it turned out here: a.pomf.se/vwcfpo.JPG and a.pomf.se/nidsqi.JPG ^^

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for your tutorials! I've been driving my self nutty trying to find something to help me with making my Dollshe some clothes... I refuse to pay for doll clothes that cost as much as my own. Again, thank you for your tutorials

Gah, wow I thought I had responded to this. I've got a Saint and an Aramis. Along with floating heads, Bernard, Hound (OE, SA, and IM) and Van. I've got a total of two full dolls and ten floating heads.
