I was trying to "humanize" a Flatfish, though the result is also very similar to Nemo Ramjet's asymmetrical people in "All Tomorrows."
I loved the Slouches, though.

Aside from the obvious flatfish inspiration at work here was a creature from All Tomorrows (I forget the name) involved as well? The base concept is similar enough to be coincidence but I was curious.

It actually started as a sketch of a perfectly bisected fetus-like monster crawling on its side. Then I thought flatfish features would be perfect and finally some surinam frog.
I'd almost forgotten the asymmetrical people, which is odd because they were one of my favorite things in the book. A bit of them surely crept in here.

You manage to pack a lot of subtle inspirations into your designs, and the parasites infested with parasites is a nice touch.
I should read All Tomorrows again, it's been a while...

in response to your commentary, frankly, I'm surprised you haven't done a surinam-frog-inspired creature yet.

Are you going to write an article about Binding of Isaac monsters at any point?

So it's host to blood-sucking aprasites that are themselves host to mind-controlling parasites? Go wormbrains, that's awesome!

It kinda made me think of a flatfish when I saw the face.
