.:: EDIT .::. I scanned it again. Hope quality is better this time ::.Yeah I am pretty good with finding names aren't I?
Dunno if I like this one... scanner ruined his back anyways, it's nearly white. All white things should be just a bit lighter than the head. Proportions are off, hate the tail and *how do you call that in english?
, manen in Dutch* I just posted it because I like his head and I worked for hours on it.

cool. what really caught my attention to this was the head and mane. the movement is really great
you do have some anatomy issues, but you know what they say....practice makes perfect.
what you could do is find a bunch of photos to study and use as a reference.

And I know, I usually use reference. Also, I have studied the horse itself... I know its anatomy, its muscles, skeleton, etc. Drawing horses will never be easy, though, but I like it that way. It's just I drew this in 2005 and I think I have improved lots.

yeah i realize that now. you're latest horses are really good. i was just really tired at the time and this one just happen to catch my eye. i'll be sure to look again.
like i said though, i really like the movement in this one. i'd like to see you revisit it and spruce it up.

I love this picture. I really like the light shading, and one of my favourite things is the movement created by his arched neck and tossed mane. I think it's lovely!

Lovely shading - I never get a clean one when draing with pencils. It looks very soft. Really like it!

The point is.... I don't remember my reference. I believe it was from Kawalkada ([link] ). Or not. NO IT ISSSN'T. I have started this at my friend's: she's got some kind of encyclopedia, I have no idea if it is the Mícek's one, but it was indeed a luuurvely stallion

Hmm I think the shading is to grey, I'd have liked to have put more darker colors in them to create a more realistic look. But badly enough dark shading isn't my best part.

I can try to scan this photo and send it (it should become a poster! - LOL). I never succeeded due to the books "special" paper. I don't know where to get this book as well - I found it in a store years ago, but I fell in love with it immediatly (and since then love Andalusia-horses with all my heart).
And your drawing does look very realistic to me! There's nothing I don't like about the shading. I think it's perfect.

The book is called "Erlebnis Pferde". It has wonderful photos in it. I should try to redraw one of them as well. *pets the pretty photos* - Oh, and yes, I'm from Germany. *g* And I even have been to the Netherlands once. Well, it's just been Amsterdam where everyone seems to go one day, but I've at least been there!

Yep my friend has that book and I were always stealing it to draw horse poses from it, lol. Oh well, but all the horses were walking in grass >.< No legs to see.

LOL, I love to "steal" poses from Breyer or Schleich horses (these figurines - maybe you know them) if I can't find a proper living model I can take photos of.
Zwolle... Uh, a friend of mine who lives close to the Netherlands' borders often goes there to buy some special sort of lakritz (sp?) with mint-flavour. They're a killer! *can't eat more than two a day - lol*

Wow... I've seen quite a lot drawings and paintings of horses, and this is definitely one of the best! I don't really like the ears, but the rest is just perfect: the muscles, the details of the fine Andalusian head, and his pose is verrry recognizeable; they often do that when they're happy, just throwing their heads up and down in pure lifelust (I'm sure you know but not nearly everybody here does, and I just wanted to point that out
anyway: instand fav for me and keep going!!

The only advice I can give you, is to use references and practice... Just practice. I've been drawing seriously since I was ten years old, I've had 4 years to improve. Look good at shadows and light sources when you draw
