Description :: The Harpley Hunt - Boxing Day Meet ::
Horse: HS Livin' La Vida Loki
Rider: Aimee Ellis
Stables: Herdade do Sobreiro

This is horribly late, but I still like it, so I thought I'd upload it anyway!

Loki looks very elegant with a roached mane He's using a pelham to give Aimee some better brakes, as having a horse running loose round the fields probably wouldn't be good! Aimee is riding side saddle because... Reasons. (I like side saddles, that's the reason)

Thank you so much!

The world needs more side saddle, that's one very good reason.

SIDE SADDLE

I'm so behind on everyone's galleries, but I really like this - Lovely work with the tack and its great to see Loki again. He looks like he's really striding into that bridle, too. Also, love the textures you've got in the background; the grass is so thick but the laid hedge and the trees are great, too.

Nice touch with the red ribbon there Does he kick a bit?

I knew you'd approve.

And I'm behind on comments. Thank you, I'm really glad you like it! The textures were a bit of a necessity, as I was very close to the deadline so had to do the background as quickly as I could - and even then, I didn't manage to upload it on time. But I think they do look quite good.

He kicks a lot. He's the famous horse who put a dent in the farrier's car.

I DO, I DO

Haha, no worries; I know what that's like You're welcome, though! And even rushed, it came out with such a rich feel to it - so nice emergency skills there

Lol, its awful that I forgot that. A dent in a van is a pretty serious protest XD

Ahah, that's very good!

The farrier knows to park faaar away from the stalls now.

Someone already pointed out that the shading looks really smooth, but I need to say it too and also that they both look very elegant.

Not to worry, I've edited your entry in at the end of the results post so hopefully a lot of people who took part will still see this one as well Love the style and colouring here, Loki's a looker!

This is incredibly late, but thank you for adding this in! And thank you too, he certainly is a striking horse, even if that makes him harder to paint.

Not a problem, it would be rude to leave it out just cos it was a bit late!
I find greys quite hard to paint unless they're dirty, it's difficult to get the light and shade looking deep enough if they're too pure white. Wil isn't allowed to bathe King Henry for this reason, I need the horse to be always slightly grubby to be able to draw him better, heh

Ooh, I do love the roached mane on him, he looks so elegant. The way you shaded him is so smooth and creamy, I don't know why it sticks out to me but I love that too!

And that red ribbon You have such a knack for detail!
