Good one. I'll agree with the comments critiquing the planet, although the shape fits into the piece well. But the obvious stand-out is the background. I like the smoothness along with the intricate and electric sand-like lines, plus the radiance of the personally crafted starfield. Also the golden-vermillion colours are exquisite -- I've used such colours myself recently, but just noticed your piece here.

Thanks!

And yes, looking back at this and I'm not overly happy with how I integrated that planet. I have been considering revisiting and remaking parts of this at some point. We'll see though...

And yes, playing around with some untraditional colours is always good fun! In this case it was much thanks to how the fractal came out. Some adjustments and color corrections were done of course, but the fractal gradient itself led me to the color scheme. So bit luck of the draw

Would be good to see!

Fractals are pretty cool these days. Good choice!

Absolutely a singular work!
I've visited your gallery and I've noticed your evolution in space art..amazing!
The solar windwave is really something I've never seen before on DA and this fact makes this piece very interesting!
As some other comments say I agree you could improve this artwork working on the planet.
The idea that it's exploding is very cool, but - personally - I'd make it much more messy and I would try to make it look like it's not hollow inside (no idea how to do it! )
I love the colors too!
Keep up the good work!

I love this. You did a great job on the planet breaking apart. It's a great effect which adds an element of suspense in this piece.

Thanks man. And yeah, I first intended to showcase the nebula/wave only, but it needed a centre piece. Glad you think it turned out well

I know that ...
but a "sun wave" could happen. (not joking) It would kill as all, not like this piece, but it would kill the life on earth.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tadp0l3 In reply to Xyrax [2012-05-31 13:06:27 +0000 UTC]

Well, the hight/length ratio isn't very suitable for wallpapers - would mean I'd have to cut the nebula in half :/

It's certainly unique among nebula pieces It even has a 3D feel, like the right side of the wave is coming forward while the left is curving away. But I just realized it works the other way too, either end can be the closest side

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

tadp0l3 In reply to Chromattix [2012-05-31 13:04:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Priteeboy, was my intention to get a 3d feel, worked a lot on the lightning and shadowing of the nebula to get it to work. Was quite fun to take such an odd road in nebula creation. A bit surreal and not very realistic, but fun

Really nice work, I'd work on the planet a bit more though, it looks a bit to clean cut, some smaller chunks of planet that are bigger than the other debris would look awesome
