And what good would rendering Filigree be without rendering her kid sister, Verdigris?As with the other one, this really isn't the story version of Verdi, these pictures really don't carry the weight and "horrors" that Verdigris has bore witness to in the story. But maybe that's why I wanted to draw her this way. I did such horrible things to this innocent little character that I just wanted to let her BE an innocent little character....

Lessons Learned: Oddly, not many. Verdi here was very easy to render compared to her elder sister. Part of that was the softer curves and wide, youthful, eyes. She had such FLEXIBILITY in her expressions that she was downright FUN to sketch! I still need to practice gryphon bodies and stuff, but I think I have the wings mostly down...

Gosh, Polecat... it's just nice seeing you draw again. XD It was honestly a bit of an eye-opener me when I had learned that you had become a member of the illustrious pre-readers, and I sorta had been waiting to see if you would start doing MLP related art in conjunction with your art... maybe Birdo wearing that ridiculous Pinkie Pie costume from issue 3 or 4 of the IDW comics, or perhaps some sort of crazy kinky gooey cocoon changeling bondage thing or something!
Regardless, I respect your move into the written art form. I myself tend to keep myself to short, single chapter reads that don't stray too far from the slice of life comedy tone of the source material unless I'm in quite the manic mood, and even then I tend to keep it to single chapter affairs if I can help it. As such, I really don't know what New Breed is about.
Both of these gryphon characters you've showcased here are cute regardless and I... honestly really wouldn't -WANT- to see them in whatever abused and post apocalyptic state that they are in for the story. @__@;;

Actually, I literally bowed out of the prereaders as of last week. I just didn't have the time and energy to keep up with the demand anymore. There may be SOME MLP art on the way tho, but I'll admit I did hit a completely different thread...
Writing was something I tried as a kid, even before teaching myself to draw. it's rather nice to come back to it... And the story "new Breed" is simply putting ponies in as super heroes. At least, that was the inspiration, it's evolved since that start.
As for what happened... let's just say griffons aren't very kind to those with powers. Filigree was practically a slave/bodyguard (She's extremely strong in the story), and Verdigris has had a lot of problems with the villains, leading to her almost dying. So yeah... this is a bit of a look at her in a more innocent time...

Thanks. It's a little sketchy... I really need to work on the bodies, but it was fun and cute.

They are pretty good, a good place to start and see where you can improve. But having fun while doing it is the main thing really. I hope you do the rest of the team, I'd really like to see what Clockworks Dragonfly armour looks like... I've been wanted to make a figure out of clay for awhile, but I'm no good without working with something to look at. XD
Also, really looking forward to book 3 of A New Breed, it's my favourite fanfiction series I've read.

I plan on giving it the college try eventually, but I'll admit I have a non-New Breed purpose for these two...
And Book 3 will come, but I'm still recharging (and dealing with a few medical issues that cropped up this year).
