The world would be a much better place without religion.

And the other thing, it's my understanding that the twin towers had bombs inside.
Thermites been found, wittiness including firemen heard and saw explosions, the towers fell at near freefall speed, the towers were built to withstand multiple plane crashes, no plane ever hit building 7Β  etc etc.
Muslims didn't do all that.

And imagine China without atheistic Marxist driven Mao and Russia without atheistic Marxist totalitarian Stalin.
Several million would have lived.

No Catholic and other christian hospitals maybe no hospitals at all, no red cross, no anti slavery movement in Britain or the U.S.. , no Martin Luther King, No Malcom X, no Ghandi, No Jews, no ten commandments , No sermon on the mt, No Bach or Handel, No Gospel Music (which means no blues jazz or Rock n Roll).

A world full of atheist with no God or Christians to hate...
They'd have no books to write and no "imaginary" persons to be angry at all day.

So it was *only* the 'virgins in the afterlife' thing that caused the hijackers to do this and NOT in fact the promise that their families would be looked after and cared for and that the Western dogs they hate would be shaken to the core.

But according to Dickie Dawkins, it was *ONLY* fucking Religion.

No.

Just... no.

This was the result of complex social and economic factors, so I don't think it's good to turn religion into scapegoat for the events of 9/11.

I would agree...somewhat. I am Christian and I do believe in the one true God. However I do believe that zealots, and radicals are a plague on this Earth. Heck I dislike a TON of "christians" who hate people just because they're not Christian. We don't hate, only the unloved hate, but Zealots and Radicals are different. They need to be dealt with, but removing all religion would just make the world and it's people... stale. Humans need something to believe in and strive for, "certain" religions have humans striving for perfection and though that's not reachable it usually brings out the best and worst in humans. We have to take good with bad in life, but I will admit that the world would be better off without Zealots.

I've seen you made some posts to NoReligion about dawkins and I had to already remove some of them. I am not sure whether you are understanding what Dawkins is about or this group is about for that matter. I read Dawkins and found him very inspiring in my scientific work but to take on words of a scientists and turn them into anti-religious hateful messages just does not go with the spirit of this group.

I don't recall making any posts on your group page about Dawkins, but by all means, you are free to remove all my non-existent posts.
So you found Dawkins very inspiring in your so called "scientific work" did you? Well that's just fantastic sunshine, but try not to be so presumptions as to think that you are the only one who "gets it"!
I really hope you don't jump to such absurd assumptions when doing your "scientific work". That would be such a shame seeing as how you totally understand what Dawkins is all about. lol

I have a number of people telling the same thing, somebody submitted for them. Sorry about that.
Regarding Dawkins, I don't argue that my understanding of him is perfect, I am saying stop using scientific and philosophic work to support your own hateful messages.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

teews666 In reply to Elendurwen [2012-01-05 17:37:17 +0000 UTC]

What part of this message is "hateful"? You may not agree with it, which is fine, but disagreeing with a certain message doesn't make it hateful. Your personal indignation and brittle sensibilities are of no concern to me.
I suggest reading his book 'The God Delusion' and watching his documentary called 'The Root of All Evil' from 2006 which inspired this piece to begin with. Even a quick search on Youtube will give you numerous videos of Dawkins expressing the very same "hateful messages" you refer to.

Yes, of course.

Nationalism has nothing to do with it, and neither does the desire for power.

Yeah, I suppose if religion didn't exist, the world would be perfect.

Pfft.

You're no better than the religious fundies who pin atheism as the root of all evil.

You'd make a great orator for the FIS!

Butthurt much? I don't think anyone is saying a world without religion would be a world without war. However it would be one less reason to go to war. Also religion is used as a recruitment tool for secular conflicts as well.

teews666 In reply to ZerroukitheWanderer [2011-03-20 03:33:32 +0000 UTC]

Perfect? Who said anything about attaining perfection? I'd settle for the world being slightly less fucked up than it is now.
Of course nationalism and the desire for power were part of what motivated those events, but that alone isn't enough for people to strap bombs to there chests. In this case they hijacked planes and blew up a couple of buildings. You'd be surprised what people will do for 72 virgins in heaven.

Also, what does the FIS have to do with any of this? lol

First you said that without religion there would be no civilization. But then you say that before religion civilization was biggest and strongest-implying that there was civilization when there was no religion, therefore contradicting your first statement.

I was going to point that out as well but I figured that irony would be lost on him. lol
After his second post I understand what he was crudely attempting to convey. It's a reference to a comedy sketch by Pat Oswalt. Again, he fails to grasp what Oswalt says and simply quotes it out of context.

Most people probably know Patton Oswalt as the voice of the French rat that learns to cook in the 2007 Pixar animated movie 'Ratatouille'. I know its not exactly a stellar role, but he does do a decent job as a stand up comedian.

I have seen "sky cake" and I know that Patton Oswalt is an atheist. He is also a comedian, and if you listen to that bit in its entirety and actually understand the humour, you'll see that he is poking fun at the absurdity of these primitive beliefs and how it is all basically made up bullshit!
