Back Story:
Naya's story began before she was ever born. Her mother had met and fallen in love with a man who was not from Earth a fact of which he was completely open with her about. Months before Naya was born, her father sensed in Efia a powerful force growing inside her. He did not tell her that he sensed that she was with child partially out of respect for letting that be her "surprise" but it was also in part because deep down he was concerned. He knew that the child was barely a few weeks old but already he could sense so much power in her and feared what could happen if Efia and the unborn child were discovered by the enemy he was hiding from on Earth. For so long he had been able to refrain from allowing himself to fall in love, let alone have a child with a woman, but part of him hoped that the enemy he was hiding from had long given up searching for him and the others of his kind. He had hidden that aspect from Efia, when she started to ask too many details he would avoid answering in detail and as she trusted him, she would not press further.
The first two months of the pregnancy were a complete mix of emotions. Efia was ecstatic beyond belief, and Nasku did his best to hide his constant fear for his child's life. One day when he and Efia were out at the street market a group of men and women led by an older woman surrounded them and began yelling of a goddess that was to be born. Warning and yelling about how this being would bring death and destruction to world if it was allowed to be born. The startled couple rushed away from the market dismissing what they were saying and trying to play it off when people started to stare. The group followed the young couple who had, in their haste, gone down the wrong street and ended in a dead end alley. The group kept coming closer chanting and shaking talismans and other dark voodoo iconography towards Efia. Something Nasku took great exception to. The elder leader was now in the back behind the younger, stronger acolytes. Efia began to be legitimately frightened and started to plead for her baby's life and for the group to just go away. The leader said from the rear "A god is coming and her birth will mark the destruction of the world. That cannot happen." When woman had finished saying this, the acolytes drew long curved blades from under their cloaks and took one step closer towards the couple. Nasku stood up and took a firm stance in front of Efia who was curled up against the corner of the dead end. "You want a god...you can have one." Nasku said with a voice that seemed to change from a normal tone to one of a commanding presence. As if his voice echoed inside the minds of everyone nearby. His eyes turned a solid gold and a sparkling energy flowed out from them dissipating into the air a few inches away from his face. In a flash of light his normal clothing vanished a type of living metal covered his body which somehow made him seem taller and larger than life than just moments before.
Everyone that looked upon him felt awe and fear. This terror was short-lived for all the ones holding blades as he simply waved his hand in a half circle causing little bright orbs that mimicked miniature suns flew towards each one of them. After they connected to their targets, Nasku clenched his fist and all of the would be attackers simply disintegrated instantly. No screams, no sounds. One moment they existed the next they did not. He pointed towards the elder leader and commanded that she and all her kind leave this place for all time or he would see to it that she and all who followed her would suffer the same fate. The woman grabbed a talisman and muttered a chant before vanishing in a cloud of a thick dark mist. As quickly as he had transformed, Nasku returned to his more mundane appearance. Momentarily, Efia was scared of him and the display of power she had just witnessed from the man she loved. After the two had returned home, Nasku explained to her that since he had revealed his true form even for just a moment, that was long enough for his enemies to know if they had been looking. And for Efia's sake and more importantly for their daughter's sake he had to leave and not for just a short time. He had to disappear again and would not be able to return at least not for a long while. He hated it, but he had to ensure that both of his girls were safe. And that could only happen if he left and made himself appear to be far away from this world.
Efia struggled to continue on without the love of her life, but reminded herself daily that she had to continue on for her daughter and that one day, any day, Nasku would return. She missed him every hour of every day, even more so on the day their daughter was born. While Efia was in the hospital beginning to go into labor, a kind young woman entered the room and asked Efia if she could have her permission to place a blessing on the room and the mother for a healthy and safe delivery. As she was looking for any source of comfort, Efia gave her permission. The woman placed a small necklace around the mother's neck that had a small piece of metal that was slightly warm to the touch on it. Then the young woman performed the ritual and at the end a wind seemed to come out of her and gently cover Efia, causing her hair to move and the sheet on the bed to flap gently. Having ended the ritual the young woman smiled and took the necklace back as Efia thanked her. "No...thank you!" The woman said in an oddly proud tone. Almost immediately the full labor pains started and Efia called out for the nurse who quickly ran into the room. The Doctor and nurses asked the young woman to leave, who slowly exited the room. As she turned the corner her young visage slowly morphed into a wrinkled old face. The same woman that had been in the street corner seven months ago. Holding the stone between her fingers she admired the radium and started cackling. She heard the child start to cry from down the hall as she vanished again just as she had months prior.
The years passed by quicker and quicker as if life was picking up speed as Naya and her mother made their life together. As a child, Naya presented a wide arrange of non human abilities. This provided a great amount of stress for Efia, hoping that her enthusiastic daughter wouldn't show off in public like she did at home. As she grew, Efia stressed to Naya just how important it was for her to hide her abilities, that her father exiled himself in order to keep them safe. She had no idea if her using these powers could bring the same dangers Nasku had feared. Naya begrudgingly agreed and kept her talents a secret and did her best to never use them. Until one day she saw a bus full of children having lost control veering dangerously close to falling off a bridge and Naya jumped into action, catching the bus just as it started to fall. Only a few children in the back saw her as she pulled the bus as if it had no weight back full onto the road and fly off. The bus driver was bewildered as he stood at the rear of the bus and saw the indention of two hands that had grabbed the bumper. Most of Naya's teen years were spent with secret evenings and weekend flybys of the aspiring young heroine growing into her powers fully as she grew bolder and bolder in what risks and challenges she would take. Everything she faced seemed to be no challenge for her until she ran into a couple of robbers that turned out to be much more than just thugs with guns and knives. These men had dark magical powers and enchanted weapons. That was the first time Naya ever experienced pain. After they weakened her with metal batons that stung and burned her skin with every blow, slowly stunting her strength with every blow. Having beaten her down, one man grabbed a cord that smelled of incense that had been cursed with dark magic. He pulled it tight around Naya's neck and started strangling her with it. He whispered in her ear as she started to black out. "This is how gods die, Nanyanika." Before she lost consciousness all she thought about was her mother. When she came to in a pile of garbage out behind the building she had lost her fight in, Naya struggled to stand. Her body ached and burned all over from the attacks of those strange metal weapons. She grabbed at her neck rubbing her throat as she still felt the sting of that cursed cord. Finally her eyes shot wide. "Mother!" She shot into the sky and pushed herself to fly as fast as she could to return home. Arriving just in time to find her home in flames, she kicked in the back door and ran inside. She found her mother lying dead from a single stab wound to her heart. Naya grabbed the blade out of her mother, it was the same burning metal that was in the batons the men had. Neighbors were in shock when they saw Naya walk out of the burning building as the house collapsed behind her. They referred to it as a miracle and dismissed it as such.
Naya had her mother cremated and her ashes spread out on the ocean at the beach where her mother had first met her father. Every year on her birthday, her mother's birthday and the anniversary of her mother passing, Naya went to that same beach and spent time with her mother. On one of these visits shortly after her eighteenth birthday, Naya came across a beautiful young woman named Ashanti and Naya knew very shortly after meeting this striking young woman that her life was destined to change for the better. Just how much it would change, she was completely unaware of.
Powers:
Flight - Sparrowhawk can flight at speeds up to mach 2. She can push herself in spurts nearing mach 3, but cannot consistently keep that speed.
Super Strength - Sparrowhawk can lift 60 tons with ease and hold/carry the weight. In power lift bursts, she maxes out at 80 tons.
Invulnerable - She is resistant to nearly all forms of physical attacks including bladed weapons and most normal rounds of ammunition. Very large scale explosives with enough concussive force can knock her down/back even out if strong enough but no long term damage is done to her body.
Alien Physiology - Sparrowhawk's unique alien biology mixed with her human dna has left her with many extraordinary abilities. Her skin is nearly impervious to burns or freezing. This does not mean that she can't feel the temperature changes, just no damage to her skin occurs. Her metabolism quickly filtrates out most known hazardous chemicals and toxins. The more lethal ones can render her weakened or cause her to pass out, but she cannot be killed by exposure. Lastly she is able to hold her breath for an inhuman amount of time. This allows her to search underwater and in low oxygen areas for extended amounts of time. Currently the longest she has held her breath underwater is just over an hour but did not feel that was the extent of her ability, merely was not required to stay submerged longer than that. Her biology also seems uniquely keyed to be able to affect the clothing she is wearing and make adjustments/changes. So far the extent of this ability is she has mastered the ability to use the energy transferrence to change whatever she is wearing into her signature Sparrowhawk attire when preparing for combat.
Aura sight - A power that is still a mystery to her, Sparrowhawk can sense/read a person's energy or aura as she calls it. The hues/frequencies/vibrations of them give off clues on a person's state of mind/emotional state. She is learning to use it to judge when a person is lying to her or not, and can sense lare amounts of guilt. This has aided her several times in capturing criminals.
Weaknesses:
Dark Magic - Sparrowhawk is especially susceptible to dark magic/voodoo magic attacks.
Radium - Radium causes Sparrowhawk to weaken more and more the longer and more she is exposed to. Given enough time or quantites it would be lethal.
