My good fellow! Grovyle, that is unmistakably your friend B-Man!What?!
That Pokémon you see was once a human!
This pic was an obvious recreation of a seen near the very end of Chapter 15 in PMD2. However, I added a bit of a twist to focus a little more on Dusknoir's rather cocky attitude towards this unfortunate turn of events...
Poor Grovyle... Thinking that the past could still be saved...unknown that the one he traveled had been with him all along...just in a new body. Dusknoir couldn't help but laugh.
I loved that seen quite a lot. Dusknoir was such a great character... Too bad that I couldn't quite recreate him here. He was a HUGE pain to draw because he was, well...HUGE!
But I'm getting better at this... I know I am! Part has to do with this lovely tablet.
Background was totally taken from whatever I could remember + a YouTube walkthrough. Couldn't quite get the look I was hoping for though.
Still, I hope some joy is generated from this.
I'm looking forward to the additional background about Dusknoir in Explorers of the Sky...

Yeah, I love this game as well. Usually i try to try all of the pokemon buuuuut in my case, Dusknoir would be like...

And I completely understand they are a pain to draw X( But you pulled it off rather nicely ^^

Oh yes... This scene. I agree, seriously one of my favorites. My favorite when I played it (first time a Pokemon game shocked me "Holy crap!"-style), favorite to write in Spanning Time, favorite all around.
And yes... Dusknoir really shows the side of his character that makes him truly amazing, even as a villian. If anything, the fact that he's a villian makes it even more incredible, given all the ways there are to wreck one or make them seem comic or ridiculous (sometimes this is the intent, but still).
"When your greatest triumph is your foe's greatest despair, you have reached the true depths of evil." It's a quote I put in Spanning Time (at this scene actually), and it pretty much embodies Dusknoir at this scene. He's laughing because his adversaries just realized that they've been manipulated while they - particularly Grovyle - believed there was still some hope even if they failed. Only to suddenly find there is none.
As for the art... You do a pretty decent job getting the emotion across with the expressions, but the posture is really what's telling in this instance. And I mean that in a good way. Dusknoir's not a good example for expression, because one eye and no face to speak of otherwise can make expressions difficult. But Dusknoir's posture more than makes up for that, coming across as condescending and mocking, matching the tone of the dialogue.
I think the background's a little distracting though. Backgrounds are the hardest part of a picture, though... To put more focus on the subject, you might want to make the background more indistinct the further you get away from the foreground, but not too much... an overly-blurred effect doesn't look good either. It's just a suggestion though. It's not too a major problem.
Overall, good job. I like it.

Can't say I can respond with just as much, but at the very least I can say that you've said just about everything that was in my head regarding this piece...and then some.
Dusknoir was tricky to pull off to still make him look sinister yet arrogant but I thought I pulled it off, and I'm glad you agree. And I shall take your words regarding backgrounds to heart. It's something I've had trouble with for a very long time now. I'm always looking for new ways to improve it though.
