Oh man. Β I really love this. Β These characters are some of my absolute favorites (throughout TV shows, movies, and of course the books), and I feel like you captured them perfectly. Β
I also really adore the way you handled what I'm assuming is inks - especially the different shades of linework. Β Bravo!

I'm really curious about your process with the ink.
I use ink a lot, and mine are not quite like these.

How much do you draw out before you ink it?

I usually start with a pose sketch- that'll be my inspiration. I'll make a thumbnail to work out composition and lighting, and then the pencil drawing goes under the ink. Because you can't erase pencil once the ink goes over it, I make the drawing as sparse as possible, and particularly leave it very simple in the areas of light in the drawing. The thumbnail phase is definitely the most informative in terms of the drawing, the pencil sketch under the ink is more focused on details like characterization, pattern, clothing, etc.

Hello, I wanted to say that this so beautifully drawn. I personally love watercolors, and this whole piece looks like it was done with this sort of watercolor-ness type thing. It is so elegant. And I love it so much. So much so that I thought you should submit it for this project that aguidetodeduction.tumblr.com is doing. It's this book called Art of Deduction, and it's a compilation of Sherlock fandom stuff. I thought you might want to check it out. aguidetodeduction.tumblr.com/saveundershawproject
