oh god I'm stuck on the fanart train and I can't get off!So have some more Harry Potter. Another scene I've wanted to draw for ages. I'm totally fascinated by Harry and Ron's relationship, probably mostly as an American outsider witnessing a British bromance, but I totally love it.
I also have a really intense bitersweet relationship with "no one will ever understand what I've been through" storylines, (like lord of the flies,) and it seems to me like Harry has, like, the most intense version of that ever except it's not so horrible cause he has two people who kinda do understand.
Well anyway, just musings about this piece. So this is Harry and Ron in ruined Hogwarts after it's all over.

I love this, there's something very sad about. Harry and Ron both look so past the point of grief or trauma -- that just look really tired. And that's even more tragic. Excellent job!

I viewed this piece a few weeks ago and it has really stuck in my brain, especially your comment about "no one will ever understand what I've been through". I suddenly remembered one of the final scenes from LOTR: Return of the King when the Hobbits are sitting around the table in the pub back in the Shire and celebrations are going on around them. It was the way they looked at each other and how if felt like they were removed from the revelry that surrounded them. They were changed and could never look at life the same again. And no one except those who had fought in the war could understand what they'd experienced and what they had sacrificed.
Ummm, so I just needed to get that off my chest. Phewww!

Wow, this is amazing. It captures so much emotion and the essence of hard times - or the aftermath of hard times. And also, it captures pretty much the "bromance" between Harry and Ron, their relationship. One can see by looking at this picture how many things thse two have been through together.
Of course, I love the lines simplicity of the facial features. I adore your brushwork, and I would love to see an adaptation of HP in this style!

It's interesting too how people can't phantom a bromance instead of a homosexual relationship. RON AND HARRY MUST BE THE GAY because they cry and stuff. Bleh.

I actually found the two of them to be less emotional than they would have been, written by an American author, which is why their rare bromance moments are so much more intimate, for lack of a better word. But god damn I hope people aren't trying to sell harry and ron as gays...that sort of cheapens the relationship they DO have, which is totally awesome. I don't think people can't handle bromance, it's just that we're so obsessed with sex that we throw it everywhere, but, even as a lover of homoerotica, I actually prefer a good bromance. It's more rare, more difficult to craft, and more individual than just like taking it up the ass.

I don't know, because the Author came out with the whole "dumbledore is gay!!!"thing and that sort of pissed me off. I am a little sad that she isn't as popular anymore, but at least she got some people into reading, or at least continuing into twilight/whatever. I would not put it past her to write the bromance with the intention of one day revealing they're secretly having an affair. I dunno.
I think bromance is really hard to write too; You're trying to write something that I would say is typically seen as "female"(band together, sleep overs, share secrets, BFF sort of thing) to people and then adding men in without making them gay. It's completely ridiculous but that's the feeling I get from amateur writers. Or that they shy away from the characters crying/hugging/platonic kissing.

Hahahaha poor JKR had no idea that 99% of her fans are horny pre-teen girls who think being gay is the most beautifully tragic full-time occupation a person can endeavor to have. I don't think she did that for the fans, I actually believe she had no idea it would be such a big thing- I thought it was kinda cute!
Dude I know. Hopefully, one day, when I am old and wrinky and wise, I will be able to write a good bromance. It is DEFINITELY on my bucket list.

Something about your style reminds me of some of the artwork in Roald Dhal's books. He was the author that kept coming to mind as I was reading the first Harry Potter book so many years ago. Those two facts make me wish for a reprint of the series filled with your interpretations of the characters.
