This week on "Harry Potter Meets ____-"Harry Potter Meets Disaster Movie!
So maybe there wasn't strictly speaking an explosion going on right then but I really wanted to draw one hahaha
Everyone and their cousin has drawn this scene, and now I'm one of them. Seriously I cried so hard after this book, I was totally ruined for like a month.
Brush and ink, photoshop. Still weird to do digital colors but I think I'm liking it.

Love it! You captured the exact expressions I saw in my head while reading.
And I can relate to you about being ruined. After flinging the book across the room I ran to my bed and cried there. I wouldn't come out for hours. Same with the 7th book.

Sibi-chan reading book 5.
Sibi's dad reaching living room. Sibi's dad had been warned by coworkers. (like: "Your daughter's into Harry Potter?" - "Uhm... yeah..." - "She likes dogs?" - "Yes." - "Hand her some cleenex.")
Dad saw Sibi reading close to the end. Without crying already.
Dad left room.
Returned with a box of kleenex.
Kleenex was in use five minutes later.

That would be an amazing thing to draw, the Harry Potter world lends itself so incredibly well to artists. I really think some publishing company should take on that endeavor. Have a different artist for each volume.... Gawwwdd that would be sooo awesome! And J.K. Rowling could make more money!

You know, this is one of those things that is like so near and dear to me (harry potter and comics?! my two favourites) that I don't think I could read it unless it was like THE PERFECT ARTIST for it. I couldn't BEAR it if a less-than-prodigy drew harry potter which happens so frequently with comics produced out of a pre-existing form like this would be.

This is great, I'm loving this style! The brushwork is very expressive, and I can't help but LOVE the background. Kinda abstract and really effective!
As for the scene... Tell me about it... I cried so much reading it, and it still brings tears to my eyes whenever I do.

make a graphic novel adaptation of Harry Potter.
Your vision of him is just so perfectly bizarre/sort of sci-fi/moody/inky/dramatic and I want to read the entire series in this form.

For me, I dunno, Harry Potter (at least the earlier books, which I remember more) are brighter, colored like childhood, more Disney in appearance. That's just how I think of it, probably because I was really little when it first came out and I read it.
Your style is more mature, more "grown-up" and sort of creepy and really wonderful.

Well there was like this general "harry potter" look that developed early in the fandom which was 99% inspired by Makani's harry potter works, and several other artists, which was super Disney inspired. And so much of the harry potter art (including my older stuff) floating around is done in that style i feel like it informed a lot of peoples' visions of the novels without even meaning to!
