Description The diversity of the malacopneumatocystea is impressive, with forms ranging from the tall, leafy spires of group 7 to the balloon-like bodies of group 4. The malacopneumatocystea are adaptable by nature, all members of the superorder possessing at least one air-filled sac (pneumatocyst) and a soft rooting tether of some form, though besides those general rules, there is little else restricting the forms these organisms can take.

Some, such as group 1, coat the seafloor in long, flowy ridges (pneumatocysts contained within), while others, group 2, are more grass-like, propagating through extensive root systems and covering acres worth of seabed, outcompeting other grasses due to the benefits of pneumatocyst-tipped blades. Other plants take on strange forms with hidden pneumatocysts, such as group 7, prominent members of the MESWian equivalents to kelp forests, or have pneumatocyst structures which are not immediately recognizable as such, like group 3 or group 5, both of which inhabit a variety of undersea biomes and members of which are common sights in reefs. Some have outstandingly unique forms, such as group 4, while others still have more loose, leafy, and abstract forms such as group 6.
