Joshua used to have a personality, though it's feels as though it's from a past life. When he was human, he was happy-go-lucky, incredibly curious, and adventurous. Everyone who knew him loved him, though his brash attitude and boisterous personality could definitely rub people the wrong way. Still, he lived to please, both others and himself. Most people got along very well with him.

Now, though, Josh can only remember pieces of his former life through an unforgiving haze. He feels very basic emotions - anger and pursuit. He has become single-minded in his tasks and most often doesn't display any sort of emotion or personality whatsoever. It is there, though - just lost.

■ Background:

Joshua was obsessed with the paranormal and the supernatural from a very young age. His parents entertained him, getting him all sorts of ghost-hunting equipment, books, guides, almost everything he asked for. When his brother Damien was born, he tried to get the infant to be as excited about this as he was. And, well, when he found out that his brother could see and communicate with ghosts (given some practice), he was overjoyed (Damien was not). He didn't push his luck, seeing as how the contact drained Damien, and eventually continued his own pursuits without his younger brother. They were very close, though, and relied on each other for most everything. Joshua was practically a third parent to him, given how much older he was (10 years) and that their parents were fairly emotionally and physically distant. When he was in his 20s he decided to start exploring the world, hooking up with various paranormal investigation teams and institutions searching for the supernatural. His adventures led him all over, and he managed to pick up a good deal of languages on his travels. His last expedition, however, led him to The Hunt.

He was in the woods in northern Europe, trudging through the snow with seven other people in his party. They didn't know what exactly they were looking for (it wasn't The Wild Hunt at all, actually - they were looking for an above-ground cemetery which purportedly only appeared in the dead of winter nights), but thought they would know it when they saw it. Josh was an experienced traveller at this point, and thought he could endure the track, but he found himself lost and alone in the woods. It was so still - he couldn't even hear the storm around him, even though he could see snow blanketing the landscape, blocking off his view of anything but that clearing. His expedition - those that survived - would say that he was right behind them, but lost him in the storm. He was taken to serve in The Wild Hunt that night.

His individuality was lost as soon as he became part of The Hunt. He was all of the spirits there and none of them, his human self ripped apart and only held together through sheer force of will. He can inhabit a physical form in the material world, but has to concentrate if he wants it to look anything human. His suit keeps his form without him having to manifest/concentrate, though what's under the cloth is most likely nothing anyone living wants to see.

When Josh appears, those around him (and any member of The Hunt), they are reported to see those they have hurt, wronged, or killed in the faces of people walking past. Even if there are no other people around, they can still feel the stares and seem to know exactly who they are coming from. Fights also seem to break out in places where he has visited.

He can be summoned, though it's at the whims of The Hunt whether he actually goes after the intended target.
