Description This is an image I made for my media course that finished up a couple weeks ago. I was actually pretty proud of the results so I figured I'd post it up The assignment was to draw a map and a detail of some place in our hometown that was special. So I drew a favorite mountain bike trail from near my old house (back in high school)

The image is a hybrid, graphite drawing/digital painting. Its kind of a new technique for me... I usually don't like to mix natural media and digital... but I was pleasantly surprised at how well they seemed to merge in this instance.

Anyway, I hope y'all like it!

Comments/favs/inane babble is always appreciated!

edit: spelling is my dooom... dooooom I say!

Yup! Its a fun one! Hey, laping a reservoir isn't bad either, bike around water is always fun... and the breeze over the waters surface helps keep you cool

This is great. Hard to tell where the media begin and end, and that's fine. Love the textures, either graphite or digital. Wonder what a photograph of the view would look like ...

Usagisama In reply to Argocat8 [2008-04-06 11:51:24 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!! I was really happy to hear everyone's response to the media in this image... I'm definitely gonna do more of these digital/graphite hybrids now As for a photo, I quickly google image searched... and this is an image of the butte and my home town... its the wrong angle, but the same hill and general idea. Omfggagfgaahagshaghagha!! *Β¬*

Ok, seriously now: It looks great! I seems like you've painted it with realmedia, beacuse your grafitte lines are rough and...how can I say that? Gentle at the same time? Looks so bucolic, that I would like to be with the guy, enjoying the sight.

Really makes me wnat to dive into it, honestly. ^^

Summer time? What about winter? Does it snow or something? I've never seen snow in my life... ^^'

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Usagisama In reply to RaposaBranca [2008-04-06 11:34:51 +0000 UTC]

Never seen snow? Oh my, you must come to north America some winter!! Snow is really awesome... well, it is very cold and wet as it melts against your warm body/clothes... but its so much fun to sculpt, throw, and stomp around in, that you almost stop caring how cold it is!

Sadly, I don't see much snow where I live. It mostly rains here, a very cold rain. It does snow sometimes, but only once or twice a year. And really significant amounts of snow only fall once every few years. When it does though, everyone one in town gets excited and stays home to play in the snow!

RaposaBranca In reply to Usagisama [2008-04-06 17:03:02 +0000 UTC]

I once considered going to Toronto in winter... but some brazilian guy over there (I've been there in summer) completely dellusioned me with some statements like "It goes dark at 3 pm". I was already dazed with the sun setting at 8:30, and this was pleasant; I'd go desperate if I couldn't see daylight properly! >.<

Yet, I'd like to make snow sculptures and throw snowballs at anyone that crossed my way ( >D ). Must be awesome. Especially the missing class to play in snow thing. ^^ And you're lucky for having snow and nice sunny days at the same place. Here we have the hot season and the rain season. And believe me, it's raining now and it's very hot! >.<

This is really nice! The ladescape is lovely. Also, I like that I can see the graphite lines through the digital coloring, it makes it seem much more organic.

This is beautiful I love how much green there is and how he's coming out of just a sea of trees.

Then again you did live in Oregon so it makes sense.

But still, very well done, I love the coloring. Great job!

Heh heh, oregon is the land of both "green" and "trees"!! Though sadly its also the land of rain, so one doesn't get to be outside to enjoy the lush green for much of the year. Still, it is way pretty when we do get a sunny day

Thanks Surey!!
