Description Probably one of the more, if not the most, popular enemy in Shadow of the Colossus, Gaius (the 3rd Colossus you fight) has been the subject of most of the fan art I've seen to date.

I think it's largely because of the fact that he epitomizes the core concept of the game so well. He's one of the taller humanoid colossi, wields an iconic swordlike weapon, and his battleground is on an elevated platform, which limits any environment that could lessen his scale. I mean, you look up and he's all you see!

This was only supposed to be a quick, concept-style sketch, so I didn't go to much into the detail. I wanted the stark lighting to be the focus of the mood, and the almost silhouette worked to that effect. I'm trying to improve my painting speed by seeing how much of an image I can produce in a limited time. I want to be faster, but I also need to turn in a complete looking image (at least to the best of my ability). I hope it worked out in this case.

Cloud and fur brushes by me, actually went without photo-textures for this one.

He was really fun, but I preferred the flying one in the desert.... Please forgive my ignorance... -.-

No forgiveness needed! That desert battle is probably one of my favorites (I drew my absolute favorite already), mainly because chasing after him to climb on is like a Wild West train robbery scene.

Hehe, there was one time where he came up right in front of me so I started to shoot arrows, took out 3 of his air sacks right off the bat. ;D

I was able to do that on occasion, too! I wasn't even trying to track him at the time, and he just came up right where I needed to shoot.

The other time I actually tried to catch him on the way up, I thought I was in the right place, then he came up what looked like a mile away. I was thinking, "Oh C**p, giddyap, Agro!!!"
