HOMETREE
<3<3 at the colours and the light, and all the little details, like the owl and the couple in the heart shaped window and the rabbit <3 And yay itsa me, ma-imeanwera!
I'm with Gwenthyr here though - a forest, or any sort of nature without mayor human settlement, is more lively to me than is a town or city. Sure, cities obviously contain more life in the kind of people, and I imagine people means a lot for your evaluation of amount of liveliness - you're a people person, you almost always seem to interact with other people, be it irl or via the internet and so on. Whereas me, I'm sometimes feel the most happy and alive sitting on a mossy rock in the middle of the forest, all alone (or maybe in company of dog) and sorrounded by life as in -nature-. Nature can never be dull or boring to me.

Is not! A forest does not have wifi And if you try to draw or something in a forest you get BUGS all over you and somehow it doesent matter if your shoes are awesome you will STILL get wet somehow. And dirty. I mean.
Except for... well somehow getting food from or walking dogs in, I have a difficult time imagining what to do with nature HOW TO UTILISE IT. When I was a kid I played in the forest, making little huts and stuff with a few friends, but we only ever used the huts as Poké Centres or HQs when we played Pokémon or Megaman or something. I think sometimes we even pretended to be a flock of [insert aminul here] but we didn't really know anything ABOUT aminuls except for having seen the lion king (and well I had a zoo at home so I did know what a snake does all day - ABSOLUTELY BLOODY NOTHING) so in the end we went mecha robot aminuls instead and well yeah
I think we can sum it up by saying that being in nature gives me nothing, and mostly bores me (nothing to do, or to be seen, that can't be seen in pictures already) and even though being in a lively city doesn't add to anything in particular, it at least does not take something away (which a forest does - it removes interactivity, response, meaningful exchange) without replacing it with something useful to me.
Though I do like the landscape around Stockholm, Gothenburg and Borås (speaking of nature). I like seeing it from the security of a moving car or train wagon, sure, but I like the bizarre cliffs and the crazy ways people build houses on the mountainsides (you should SEE where Krille's parents live) and stuff. Sometime I want to get a camera (borrow my sister's maybe but FAT CHANCE to borrow that all the way to GothCon ) and take lots of pictures of cliffs. And houses on them. And of all the stairs and other pretty architecture-things in Gothenburg (and maybe some in Uppsala) because I love architecture even though I suck at drawing or using it.
This last paragraph is me saying "HOWEVÖR I DO like crazy landscaping".

We're clearly viewing nature from different perspectives here, and evaluating it on different grounds and criteria. What you consider nature to be "lacking", I am oh so glad to be rid of. The lack of boring, ugly stuff like technology, houses and streets is one of the things that makes nature awesome. I draw in nature all the time without seeing so much as a single bug and my awesome shoes never get wet unless I step in water that reaches above the shoe. I have no problem being outside without getting dirty, but oftentimes I don't bother to make sure I don't because I don't mind it. I much dislike the dirth and stench of cities though.
One of your reasons to not prefer nature is that you can't do some things you do inside, in civilisation - and it's of course understandable that you prefer environments where you can do the things you like to do. And that's the reason I on the other hand prefer nature - for me there is a ton of things I can do outside as well as inside, and a lot of things i can do outside but NOT inside. As for the things I can only do inside - internet, tv, etc - well they're not as fun, oftentimes they're boring and dull, I can do that some other time, when it rains or something.
None of us are wrong of course, and it all comes down to our different ways of evaluation things, what we prefer to do and where we can best do it (Yeah, I'm captain obvious). You prefer interactivity, which I do well without and only want in small amounts, whereas I value experience ever so highly and you can't see the point of it. I could -never- satisfy with just seeing things on pictures. I don't need that response or exchange, and just doing things outside is meaningful to me, wether I do it alone or in company. Last monday I got a bit lost in a forest and dragged my bike up a 45 degree hill for 200 meter - it was the most awesome part of that awesome day, it was just too much fun. I love walking, running, biking, climbing, finding new ways, finding new awesome places and things, exploring new areas, looking for and finding things or places, chillaxing, sunbathing, or take something with me to do, like sketchblock and pen, notebook, book, picnic, music, or gathering berries or fruit or flowers, or taking a bath or swim, et cetera. I love being active and being it in pretty surroundings is just utterly satisfying to me, alla sinnen på helspänn to take in the sights and smells and sounds and feel.
In cities however there are a lot of things I dislike. Ugly sorroundings, lots of people and vehicles, it stinks, it's loud, it's dirty, full of modern shit and trängsel and stress and publicity.
However I do agree on that those houses that looks like cubes randomly thrown out on a rocky hill looks neat
.../end of captain obvious, for reals now >_>

I absolutely adore this! What a great idea, and it's done wonderfully!
It's fun when an illustration forces you to look more closely to catch all the little details!
My favorite part: the "wtf" pose of the poor guy opening his door to see that huge owl XDDD
Amazing illustration!
