wbyrd — Fast Drone Carrier

Description Built for speed and stealth this ship is designed to carry a lethal load of antiship Missiles in addition to it's twin spinal mounts.

It has a limited defensive weapons suite making it vulnerable to larger ships but it's speed and massive punch give it a chance to slip in launch it's payload and quickly retreat before the enemy can concentrate their fire on it.

These ships take advantage of a modular launch system that can mount both expendable missiles, reusable Missile/drones, and long range AI guided torpedoes.

I'll leave the artwork for any publications to my more talented partners. So far this is for fun, and to give my players in the pen-n-paper, and Play by Post, RPGs I run a picture of whats around them.

Interesting idea, but not actually a Carrier. Carriers have traditionally implied that their compliment are smaller fighter/interceptor/bomber/recon carried from scenario to scenario -- even in space.

This would qualify more as a Anti-Missile Cruiser or maybe even Battleship depending on the calibre of the armament on the underside of the ship.

Good point,I should adress that in the description

In this case missile is a tricky word, since some versions of the missiles this ship would carry are more correctly drone fighters.

The Pen and Paper RPG I am using this design in uses several forms of missile. One shot deposable missiles. one mission suicide Missile/drones and reusable missile/drones. As well as extremely long AI guided one mission torpedoes.

The main guns ( not truly spinal mounts ) are about the size of a cruisers turret guns. since a Missile ship is a frigate class ship. they fire a large bore self propelled/guided round from the mass drivers. bassically a nickle iron rod ipped with depleted uranium adn wrapped up in a compact sensor and drive system....larger ships also add an Electronic warfare pod to the round.

I'm glad to be of help.. Calling them "drones" instead of "missiles" will definitely give the viewers the idea that this is indeed a carrier.

Work is good, just make sure you do this for fun but I'd make a few changes if you are to publish this design. ^_^
