Description Mexico was in such a state of decay after Spain's long awaited recognition of independence, that internal collapse seemed only natural, at least from the point of view championed by European and Columbian spectators alike. Viewing the Empire's economic status, which failed to adopt even basic industrial mechanisms, and which was almost entirely reliant on the labourer and the rancher, one could already pinpoint areas of failure. Not to mention the pervasive institution of slavery, which barely allowed certain regions of the country to scrape above the poverty that consumed the others, all the while consuming the politics of Mexico City and the minds of the trampled on. Yes, internally, the Mexican Empire was not in a situation that could save it from its future. The initial outbreak of rebellion in the predominantly Mayan provinces, long ignored by the mestizos and criollos which dominated Mexico City and its politics, rose up in armed conflict, which ignited a series of concessions made by the elite and violent backlashes from both sides that would lead to the Columbian involvement and independence of Texas.

Naturally, a rivalry had already been started between the First Mexican Empire and the United Kingdom of Columbia, each seeing themselves as rightful and legitimate heirs to the title of "Guardian of the New World." Although, in clear contrast of Columbia, Mexico did not have the international prestige, internal industry, or pure manpower to carry out its own suppression of internal rebellions, let alone extrusion of influence. Amerindian rebels brought the entire Yucatan Peninsula to an economic standstill, requiring precious loyal soldiers, manpower not commonly found across the Empire, and artillery shells to attack, only establishing order after a two year skirmish and subsequent two year occupation spanning the late 1820's. During this time, skirmishes with the frontier on the southern edge of the Empire also required attention from its very finite soldier population, and some of its best officer staff, so that they were not only physically but mentally removed from conflicts brewing on the Empire's northern frontiers with the steadily developing colonist republics and Columbian Kingdom.

Some colonist republics include the groups of pioneers who left the old British and French colonial claims and entered uncharted territories. They also included Russians who descended down over the Oregon territory into the Victorian Pacific, as it was known. These areas began to ferment and form their own independent republics, free of monarchical rule, mocking earlier ideas of the Columbian Revolution. However, these areas soon began to either fall directly under Columbian, Russian, or Mexican control as the different groups found themselves incapable of supporting themselves. Mexico had to deal with, specifically, the Mormon Wars in the 1840's, which devastated much of the Mexican lands on their northern frontier. Then, inevitably, Texas came to be the centre of discussion across the Empire.

For decades since the Columbian Revolution, pioneers and pilgrims, often called peilerins, or simple the Columbian-French dialect for "pilgrims," these French and English speaking groups of ranchers, fighters, and individualists settled across what was becoming known as "Destiny." They settled especially in areas from Texas to California. In Texas, they caused the most problems, bringing slaves, causing trouble with the native population, creating conflict with local Catholics, as most peilerins were Protestant or Anglican, and refusing to pay taxes on farms or sold goods. It culminated to such a point, that after the Mormon wars slowed, and there was talk of allowing the Mormons their own free republic, the peilerins in Texas were up in arms and actively staging rebellions from Amarillo to Laredo. In 1848, the concerted efforts of the Texans to fight off the Mexican forces eventually led to the Unitewd Kingdom of Columbia entering the war, sparking the First Columbian-Mexican War.

In 1850, the Emperor of Mexico met with Columbia and discussed what to be done. The nation lost its territories across "Destiny," being forced back behind the Grand River, Rio Grande, and compelled to disarm most of the Mexican military on this frontier. But, in the peace at the Treaty of San Antonio, the Enlightened Republic of Texas was released as an independent nation, who spoke French and English, or the developing Anglois pidgin of the two common among peilerin populations, and flew a flag with a republican star, and not a dynastic crown.

The current status of the Enlightened Republic of Texas, in the year of our Lord 1940, is one on a path for greatness. Texas is a big fish in a small pond, and due to Columbian meddling, kept far too long in its nest. In order for the Texan eagle to fly, it needs to recognise its heritage, one of a colonist republic, founded on principles of self-determinism and liberty! Not of Columbian population security, not of Californian marketism, and not of European autocracy, but of peilerin freedom! The individual above all, for every man is an individual! A system on merit, and on privacy. Today, the government in Menard, the capital, discusses trashing its ancient constitution, hand-written by an unelected Washington autocrat, in favour of one that represents a vision held by revolutionaries and radicals with trains-of-thought long thought dead... Liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness.
